News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
April 17, 2018
Dear Families,

This past Saturday, I spent the morning meeting with prospective Saint Andrew families. These Saturday interview days are some of my favorites. They provide a unique chance to answer any questions on the minds of these future Wildcat families. Additionally, it affords me the opportunity to ask why they have chosen Saint Andrew over all the other excellent educational options in Fort Worth. This past weekend, many parents voiced a "feel" about Saint Andrew that made us stand out from all others. They expressed an ability to feel the Catholic identity which identifies who we are as a school family. They shared a desire for their students to be formed in faith preparing them for their years well beyond middle school. The other answer most often cited for selecting Saint Andrew was the students. Your students. Our students. For this, you must be so proud. This comes as no surprise to me. These are the kind of students they hope their children become and the kind of young people they want their children surrounded by in these essential formatives years. I see your students every day answering questions, helping friends, thinking deeply, singing out in church, cleaning the cafeteria, laughing with their classmates, leading prayers and so much more. I love that this is so quickly apparent to those visiting our campus. The formation of these impressive young people starts at home and continues in partnership with the school. Thank you for making this choice for your children. Know that they are having an impact on others.

Only by His Grace,
Veronica D. Tucker

SAINT ANDREW CATHOLIC AUCTION SPONSORSHIP
Thank you Dr. Bekish for supporting SAS with your
$2500 Auction sponsorship!

FROM THE NURSE'S DESK
Can  you believe there are only 6 weeks left of school? This year has flown b y!  Thank you all for your patience, kindness and encouragement as we learned the ropes here at Saint Andrew, it has been a wonderful journey.

As the year closes there are several things to keep in mind:

1.  If you received an email regarding hearing, vision, or Acanthosis Nigricans (AN) referrals please follow-up with your child's pediatrician and get the information back to us.

2.  Sports Physicals will once again be done at the UNT Health Science center.  The date is August 11, but times have not been posted.  Keep in mind that any child who wishes to play school sports, MUST have a physical completed on or after June 1.

3.  If your child has medication in the clinic it MUST be picked up by the last day of school or it will be properly disposed of.  We can not store medications here over the summer.

4.  Every student who needs medication kept in the clinic- whether prescription or over the counter we MUST have a new form filled out every year. If your child has an Epinepherine Pen due to allergic reactions, a new Allergy plan of care will also be needed. You can download the medication permit from the school website or stop by the clinic and pick up a blank form.

5.  If your student will be entering Kindergarten or 7th grade next year then he or she will need Vaccine Boosters please be on watch for a letter to be mailed out giving you information on which vaccines are needed. If your child has received vaccines since school started in August, please send us a copy of those records.

6.  Upcoming field day May 29, we do NOT keep sunscreen or bug spray in the clinic. Students are not allowed to keep either item with them during field day. You are welcome to apply sunscreen and bug spray at home prior to arriving to school for the day.

Thank you for letting us care for your children while they are at school. It has been a pleasure getting to know the students here and we are looking forward to next year!

Sincerely,
Bette Felder, RN and Michelle Russell, RN
