News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
February 14, 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,

Happy Saint Valentine's Day! Many thanks to all the parents who helped with our parties today. It's so wonderful to walk the halls, visit classrooms and see our school families enjoying the day celebrating the fun traditions that accompany the feast of this widely recognized and celebrated saint of third century Rome.

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

HYGIENE KITS FOR THE HOMELESS
All of our students are involved in service projects throughout the year. The 7th grade class recently visited Catholic Charities Fort Worth to learn about the population in our community who are homeless or unsheltered.

The students are now conducting a drive for items (hygiene kits) that will be distributed by the CCFW Street Outreach Services (SOS) team to help these most vulnerable persons with items that they frequently do without - items that are so easily taken for granted in our everyday living.  One hygiene kit consists of the following items:
  • 1 (one) 12 to 16 oz. size bottle of shampoo
  • 1 (one) 12 to 16 oz. size bottle of conditioner
  • 1 (one) deodorant
  • 1 (one) razor
  • 1 (one) comb or hair brush
  • 1 (one) 8 to 12 oz. tube of body lotion
  • 1 (one) packaged and sealed toothbrush
  • 1 (one) full size toothpaste tube
  • 1 (one) tube of chapstick
  • 1 (one) small travel size Q-tip pack (or 100 tips in a sandwich zip-lock bag)
  • 1 (one) bar of soap
  • 1 (one) small travel-size body/facial wet wipes pack
  • 1 (one) gallon size zipper zip-lock bag to hold all these items
The drive has begun and will continue through  Tuesday, February 21st . Collection boxes for items donated will be located in the main foyer of the school. At the end of the drive, 7th grade students will assemble hygiene kits from the donated items.

Thank you and God bless you for supporting this drive, for responding to God's message to help the most vulnerable, and for helping to end poverty one family at a time in our diocese.
