News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
April 04, 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

Happy April! As we approach these last two months and start to look towards next year, I wanted to take this opportunity to share one of the many exciting changes we have for next year. Next year, we will be able to increase the number of hours of Spanish instruction to even better prepare for 7th/8th grade and the high school level. Mrs. Porras (5th/6th Social Studies) will also be teaching Spanish next year. These two courses will be double-blocked allowing our 5th/6th grade students to have Spanish multiple times a week. In turn, this will adjust Mrs. Vincent's schedule allowing her to increase her visits to the younger grades. We are so excited for this adjustment to our Spanish program.

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

FROM THE PRESIDENT

In His Service,

SERVING OTHERS

Sixth grade Girl Scout Troop #3021 recently partnered to help with the Eagle Scout Project of 2016 SAS Alum, Nicholas Lamis.

Nicholas built a sandbox for the children living at the Assessment Center of Catholic Charities. The girls used some of the proceeds from their cookie sale to purchase sand toys for the children who will be using the sandbox.  The Assessment Center serves as a shelter, operated by caretakers of Catholic Charities, for up to 90 days for children while waiting for placement into foster homes. Many are refugees waiting for international foster families.

The sandbox and sandtoys will provide the children with an outdoor activity that is fun and therapeutic.

Nicholas finished the sandbox on Saturday, April 1st. It was reported to him by a caretaker at Catholic Charities that the children had hours of fun that afternoon in the sandbox.
