News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
February 28, 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,

Yesterday marked the beginning of a very important and precious tradition at Saint Andrew, the Stephen Breen Wildcat Challenge Basketball Tournament. Stephen Breen, was a student at Saint Andrew and Nolan Catholic. At the age of 13, Stephen was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Throughout this battle, Stephen was an example of faith, courage and bravery. When Stephen was a freshman at Nolan Catholic, his locker was right outside my classroom. I can't think of a time when I saw Stephen without a smile on his face. The teachers regularly commented on his remarkable work ethic and determination to submit his assignments and stay on track despite being in the hospital and facing rigorous treatments.

Stephen passed away October 4, 2004, during his sophomore year. All who knew Stephen, including myself, were impacted by him. The Foundation which bears his name now continues to serve others through Catholic School Tuition Assistance and Assistance for Children with Cancer.

It is our honor to host this annual basketball tournament, along with the Breen Family, in Stephen's name. Please make plans to attend. This tournament runs for two weeks. It is a blast and a testimony to our Saint Andrew family and our Diocese of Fort Worth family.

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker
