PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES - FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20
No school for students.
News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
October 17, 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

Let the second quarter begin! I am so proud of all of your students. Everyone has worked so hard and the results are evident. As students read to me, as I peruse writing samples, as I observe classroom activities and behavior, the growth is undeniable. I am excited for you to take advantage of the opportunity to meet with teachers this Friday and learn more about your child's progress. At conferences this Friday, you will also receive your child's IOWA and CogAT testing results.  These results will be accompanied by a letter explaining the test and sharing school-wide results. Please take the time to read this and see the progress of our Wildcats!

Only By His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

SAS REMEMBERS

Each year during the month of November, the Church offers us the opportunity to remember in a special way our deceased relatives and friends.

Saint Andrew Catholic School faculty & students would like to offer prayers for the deceased loved ones of our alumni, benefactors, friends and family members. We have opened an online form for you to indicate the names of your beloved deceased. Your loved ones will remembered at Saint Andrew Catholic School Masses, during weekly adoration throughout the month of November and during morning prayers.

MOTHER/SON DANCE

Additional information is coming soon!   Email Megan Soyer  if you have questions or would like to help. We are excited to have a fun dance with our boys!

FROM THE NURSES' DESK

With the recent weather changes we are seeing more students coming to the clinic.  Of note, we are seeing a rise in students with asthma needing to use their rescue inhaler.  If your child has asthma and has a rescue inhaler at home, we STRONGLY recommend having a second one for here at school. In order to keep the medication in the clinic a medication permit must be on file.  The medication permit (a separate form for each medication) MUST be completed, signed by the parent AND the physician in order to keep the medication in the clinic. Please click here to print out a Medication Permit form.

Students are NOT allowed to keep ANY medications on their person during school. This includes over the counter medications like Tylenol and Motrin and allergy medications, sunscreen, etc.  This is for the safety of all our students and staff; as the student's condition needs to be assessed prior to dispensing medications.

Thank you,  Nurses Russell and Felder

FALL COFFEE & TOURS
Please share this information with your neighbors, family and friends.

HOLIDAY OUTREACH BOXES FOR THE FOOD PANTRY

What is Holiday Outreach?
Every year, our school participates in Holiday Outreach, a program allowing our St. Andrew Catholic Church Food Pantry to provide those in need in our St. Andrew Catholic Church and School family with food necessary for their Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.

How can I help?
Our students, families, teachers, and staff will donate from a list of non-perishable food items to fill boxes with food for a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal.  Your homeroom coordinator will be receiving a sign-up sheet in a few days to be forwarded to your homeroom parents.  Each homeroom is asked to fill two boxes from the list of requested items.  Please consider donating a few items from the list.

When should I donate?
Look for an email from your homeroom coordinator by early next week.  Please return donated items to your homeroom no later than Friday, November 3rd.   Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

SAS STUDENTS SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

Girl Scout Troop 3021 Cadettes  Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

Catholic Charities of Fort Worth has been working to help 75 displaced families relocating in Fort Worth. These families lost their homes during Hurricane Harvey and are starting to rebuild their lives, but still need help.

St Andrew Cadette Troop 3021 obtained a list of household items the families needed as they start over again. Using cookie sale money that they earned last year, the girls shopped and purchased these much needed items and they will be delivered to Catholic Charities for the families. They also made "Welcome to Fort Worth " cards to go with the items.
