News for the Parents of Saint Andrew Catholic School
May 8, 2018
Dear Families,

What a week we have had! Last Tuesday, our 8th graders continued our decades long May Crowning tradition. These leaders in our school honored our Blessed Mother and led the school in the rosary in seventeen different languages including Spanish, Polish, Chinese, German, Sign, Dutch, French, Russian, Vietnamese and Latin. Additionally, throughout this month honoring Mary, our students have prayed the Hail Mary and the Hail, Holy Queen to start our day. Religion classes will continue to emphasize the important role Mary plays in our Catholic faith. Through the intercession of Mary, may this final month of the school year be filled with blessings, perseverance and hope.

Mary, Our Lady of Grace, Pray for Us.
Mary, Mother of Mercy, Pray for Us.
Mary, Queen of Heaven, Pray for Us.

Only by His Grace,
Veronica Tucker

PARENTS' NIGHT OUT/THEOLOGY OF THE BODY
Our Theology of the Body Parents' Night Out was a huge success! 92 adults were in attendance to hear about this wonderful program our school will be implementing for the 2018-2019 school year. $6000 has been donated so far to fund The Body Matters Curriculum.

This Fall, Saint Andrew will pilot T he Body Matters program, a PK-8th grade curriculum, which teaches children, in an age-appropriate way, the truth of the body and its meaning. Please click here to learn more about The Body Matters program at SAS and/or to donate and help offset the cost to the school. Packets are also available in the office.

Thank you to the following committee members for their efforts to make this program a reality for our school:  Summer & Jim Riney, B arbara & Zack Clark,  Jennifer & Robert Folzenlogen, Jennifer & Christian Doucet, Jeanne & John Murphy, Jill & Joe Collard, Mauri & David Howell, Tara & Kyle O'Keefe and Veronica & Aaron Tucker. Thank you to Wes and Patrice Hall and Phillip and Michelle Stevens for donating food for the Parents' Night Out event and thank you to Lance Bachim for keeping us safe!!!

FROM THE NURSE'S DESK

Can you believe there are only 3 weeks left of school? This year has flown by! Thank you all for your patience, kindness and encouragement as we learned the ropes here at Saint Andrew, it has been a wonderful journey.

As the year closes there are several things to keep in mind:

1. Sports Physicals will once again be done at the UNT Health Science center. The date is August 11, but times have not been posted. Keep in mind that any child who wishes to play school sports, MUST have a physical completed on or after June 1.

2. If your child has medication in the clinic it MUST be picked up by the last day of school or it will be properly disposed of. We can not store medications here over the summer.

3. Every student who needs medication kept in the clinic- whether prescription or over the counter we MUST have a new form filled out every year. If your child has an Epinepherine Pen due to allergic reactions, a new Allergy plan of care will also be needed. You can download the medication permit from the school website or stop by the clinic and pick up a blank form.

4. If your student will be entering Kindergarten or 7th grade next year then he or she will need Vaccine Boosters please be on watch for a letter to be mailed out giving you information on which vaccines are needed. If your child has received vaccines since school started in August, please send us a copy of those records.

5. Upcoming field day May 29, we do NOT keep sunscreen or bug spray in the clinic. Students are not allowed to keep either item with them during field
day. You are welcome to apply sunscreen and bug spray at home prior to arriving to school for the day.

Thank you for letting us care for your children while they are at school. It has been a pleasure getting to know the students here and we are looking forward to next year!

Bette Felder, RN and Michelle Russell, RN

ECI
We only have a few weeks left in the school year, so please make sure your cafeteria account is paid up.
VACATION BIBLE CAMP
Splash Canyon Vacation Bible School is scheduled for June 25 through June 29, 2018 from 9 a.m. to noon.   VBS requires many hands to make it successful.  At this time we do not have enough adult volunteers for this event to take place for the children of the parish.  Because of this we are having to look at cancelling VBS this year.  If you are an adult who likes working with children and would be able to join us in leading the children as they learn more about God please contact Kathy Lawson or Star Fedor in the Pastoral Center THIS WEEK.
