Dear Families,

Happy Catholic Schools Week! Thank you to all of our families who attended Mass at Saint Andrew this weekend. Thank you also to our students who participated in the Masses as lectors, altar servers, greeters, ushers and gift bearers. I am always so proud of our students but especially proud when our students help lead our parish in celebrating the Mass. This year's Catholic Schools Week theme is: "Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed." These four words also summarize our own school's mission statement in which we emphasize the importance of rigorous academic challenges, the obligation to serve, partnership with our families and the creation of the next generation of leaders in our global society. We closed our day on Monday as we do each day... with the 3:00 Prayer to the Divine Mercy. However, yesterday, we met in the gym. I wish you could have all been there with us. It would take your breath away. Six hundred voices lifted up asking for God to "have mercy on us and on the whole world". As we continue through Catholic Schools Week, we will honor our priests with lunch tomorrow, our families with dinner on Thursday and our community with Grandparents' Day on Friday.

Thank you for helping us in our celebration of Catholic Schools Week and thank you for choosing Saint Andrew for your children. It is an honor to have them here.

SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT

Church doors will close for our weekly Mass beginning at 9:10 am. They will unlock again at 10:00 am. This is just another safety precaution. If entering the church after the 9:10 am time, please come to the front doors of the church and someone will be stationed there to let you in.

BOOK FAIR

Our "PAWS For Books" Book Fair runs through Friday, February 2nd. This fundraiser benefits our library and it would not be possible without our parent volunteers! We need parents to assist with the Book Fair. We have various shifts available. You can help set up, help students write wish lists, work as a cashier, help during Open House, help during Grandparents Day on Friday, February 2nd or assist with packing up the fair.

Please sign up for a shift or two if at all possible. This is an easy, fun way to get involved. Thank you!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK

CURRENT FAMILY OPEN HOUSE & DINNER

To honor our current families and showcase the great things our students are accomplishing in their classrooms, we will have a Family Italian Dinner on Thursday, February 1st from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm hosted by our Knights of Columbus. This will be a time to visit with other families as well as visit classrooms.

FINANCIAL AID

Financial aid is available for students entering Kindergarten - 8th grade from the Diocesan Scholarship Fund and Saint Andrew Catholic School based upon need. To apply for financial aid please submit the FACTS Financial Aid Application form by March 1.

ANNUAL FUND

Once again, thank you to everyone who donated to the Annual Fund to help us reach 77% SAS family participation. There are two corrections to the homeroom participation rates that were sent out last week: Mrs. LaCicero had 91% and Mrs. Meza had 71%. Click here to see participation rates for all homerooms.

NOLAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL NEWS

Nolan Catholic is now accepting applications for the 2018-2010 school year.

The application is on-line on our website at www.nolancatholichs.org . The Apply Today button is on the home page.

SAFE & SACRED

The Diocese of Fort Worth requires all adults who volunteer at our school to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check, complete Safe & Sacred (Safe Environment) training, and agree to the Code of Conduct every three years. Currently the process is done online.

If you would like to drive on a field trip, volunteer in the classroom, help at a class party, help at the Fall Festival, etc., please email Lisa Harrington to begin the process.

You only have to do this one time! To link your card to Saint Andrew, fill out the attached form and turn it at the store. The Saint Andrew Good Neighbor Number is: 661.

Kroger Community Rewards - Link your Kroger Reward card to SAS online at www.kroger.com. Just login to your account or create an account and link to SAS in the Community Rewards section. Our name is listed as St. Andrew's Catholic School and our organization number is 80223. You must link your card each year.

New this year: tutoring will begin at 3:10pm and end at 3:40pm. Please pick up your child from tutoring at the main entrance of the school no later than 3:40pm.
