FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,

We find ourselves now approaching the end of the first week of Lent. At our service on Ash Wednesday we discussed the beauty of being protected in the shadow of the cross created by the vertical and horizontal beams of God's holiness and love. It might seem strange to say that I "love Lent", but I do. It is during these seasons of the Church that I am most grateful to be at Saint Andrew. To be in a school where we receive ashes as a school family, where the Stations of the Cross line the hallways, where our cafeteria does not serve meat on Lenten Fridays, and where we are reminded throughout every school day of the importance of prayer, giving and sacrifice. 

Thank you for making the sacrifice to send your children to Saint Andrew as we all journey through these forty days together anxiously anticipating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ at Easter.

SCHOOL WIDE GIVING CHALLENGE 
Giving alms, Jesus teaches, means making the needs of others our own, especially the needy of our world. This year SAS is having a School Wide Giving Challenge for the season of Lent.   

March 6th-10th: Bring a new or gently used toy to donate to Fort Worth Cook Children's Hospital
March 20th-24th: Bring a gently used book to donate to Social Ministries
March 27th-31st: Bring 2 extra cans of food for Social Ministries
April 3rd-7th: Bring one item of clothing to donate to Catholic Charities

All items will be collected in the basket by the office.

LENTEN SOUP & SANDWICH
The SAS Home and School Association hosts a Lenten Soup and Sandwich each year after a Wednesday noon Mass during Lent for the parishioners of Saint Andrew Church. This year we are hosting on Wednesday, March 29th. We are in need of sandwiches, soups in crock pots and volunteers to setup or help serve.

FISH FRY DINNER OUT
Please join us for our next dinner night out at the Knight of Columbus Fish Fry in the Saint Andrew Parish Hall.

FORT WORTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FREE CONCERT
The Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra will provide a  free concert in the Saint Andrew School Gym o n Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 2:00pm.

The concert expected to be about 1 hour long and the p rogram is expected to include Bach Violin Concerto No. 2 (soloist is Associate Concertmaster, Swang Lin) and Dvorak Symphony No. 8, c onducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya.

LADIES NIGHT
We are looking forward to our final (until Fall) and best gathering yet on  March 30th at 6:30pm in the Parish Hall.  Dinner, wine, beer and dessert will be served while we learn about family prayer.

Sister Jane Dominic, OP will be joining us for an evening Lenten retreat.  We will hear her teach us how to "Pray as a Family".  The Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia are from Nashville, TN.  They love to teach and preach about the love of Christ. You will leave this final gathering feeling enlightened and full of God's grace.  Lent is a perfect time to dig deeper into our prayer life too!

AUCTION PARTY SAVE THE DATEs
Please join us on Thursday, April 6th at  Kendra Scott at University Park Village for a wonderful evening, shopping for beautiful jewelry with friends! Saint Andrew School will receive 20% of the proceeds. Come and shop between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm. 

Dads, grandparents and friends are also invited!! This is a great opportunity to shop for Mother's Day, birthday's and graduations and support SAS!!

MIDDLE SCHOOL FUN!
CALLING ALL SAINT ANDREW SCHOOL 6TH, 7TH & 8TH GRADE MIDDLE SCHOOL TEENS!

We are going back to basics!  Come over for an evening of Fun!

On March 3rd join your fellow parishioners for food and fellowship as your Knights of Columbus start this year's Famous Lenten Fish Fry on every Friday during Lent (except Good Friday). 
 
 
SANCTUS RETREAT

Isn't it time to take just one day to make your faith life a priority? Sign up for the March 11 Sanctus Retreat and receive from God an experience of peace and joy and the love of the Lord. A Sanctus Retreat is a one day, small group retreat to spend time with Christ and other parishioners. It's FREE and meals are provided. Space is limited to the first 35. RETREAT DAY PRAYER CAMPAIGN

We invite you to join us in prayer for the spiritual success of the Retreat, the Retreat team, and Retreat participants.  The prayer campaign asks that you stop one minute of your day and pray for the Holy Spirit to ignite the faith of those involved in the retreat.

  brothers and sisters at the Sanctus Retreat.
  May the Holy Spirit assist them with greater
  understanding of scripture and prayer and
