FEATURED SCHOOL VIDEO: LATHROP INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

As part of our ongoing video series highlighting all SAUSD schools, this week we debut a new video focusing on what makes Lathrop Intermediate School special. In it, students, parents and educators speak about how the school takes a holistic approach to education by offering rigorous STEM and mathematics programs, art classes, college preparation options, and services focusing on social development, leadership and mental health. "Your students will always receive an education that addresses their entire needs," Julie Infante, Principal, said to parents in the video. To view it, click here.
SAUSD DUO HONORED AS KEY INFLUENCERS WITH RIDE IN U.S. NAVY BLUE ANGELS AIRPLANE

When Alfredo Torres, Assistant Principal at Villa Fundamental Intermediate School and Ortencia Sell, Outreach Consultant, at Valley High School, received a phone call that they were selected for a once in a lifetime opportunity to ride in the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels FA/18 Hornet, they couldn't believe it. Both Torres and Sell's names were submitted to The Key Influencer Program, where the Key Influencers are people who help to shape attitudes and opinions of youth in the community. "It was an amazing experience. Truly out of this world," said Torres.

WALKER STUDENTS RECEIVE ART LESSON DURING A TRIP TO THE GETTY MUSEUM

5th graders at Walker Elementary experienced culture and received an art lesson during a recent field trip to the Getty Museum. As part of the lesson, students were asked to describe a painting or two aloud to their classmates and teachers.
DOLLAR TREE AND CÉSAR E. CHÁVEZ HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOP PARTNERSHIP

Dollar General, a general store in Santa Ana, has entered into a partnership with César E. Chávez High School (CCHS) to support reading at Chávez, as a part of its Literacy Initiative. To celebrate the new partnership, Dollar General presented CCHS with a $3,500 check to help purchase eBooks for the eLibrary. Dollar General will also be a corporate sponsor for the 2018 Prom. Presenting the check to Principal Matthew Cruz were Jim Dunaway, Regional Director; Tim Bartlett, District Manager; and Leann Edmunds. The partnership between Dollar General and CCHS signifies a growing support of CCHS by business members of the community. While financial support is always valued and appreciated, what is even more significant is the desire of Dollar General to take an active role in being a community partner to support the ongoing development of César E. Chávez High School.
