SAWDC Aviation Cluster 
Meeting Held in January 2015

On January 21st, the Aviation and Aerospace Advisory Council held its quarterly meeting at the Alabama Aviation Center, a division of Enterprise State Community College. Key employers, VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering, Airbus, Star Aviation, Aero Star and Flight Training of Mobile, discussed industry demand while workforce development partners, such as the Alabama Aviation Center, Alabama Technology Network (ATN), and Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT), provided updates on aviation training efforts.

Recognizing the critical need to train more American workers to fill the jobs that businesses are creating, a coalition of the nation's top business leadership groups today launched UpSkill America - an employer-led movement dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for American workers through education and workforce development.

Thousands of eighth grade students to attend Career Expo in Auburn

More than 4,000 East Alabama eighth grade students will flock to Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum in Auburn February 17th and 18th to get a glimpse into what the future may have in store for them.

Inspired by SAWDC's Worlds of Opportunity, the East Alabama Workforce Investment Network (EAWIN), Region 8's Workforce Development Council, will host the first-ever Career Discovery Career Expo in an effort to expose eighth graders to potential jobs and associated career paths with an overall goal of creating a workforce that will sustain a thriving economy.
