 Presents Recommendations to Governor Bentley

The Alabama Workforce Council (AWC) presented recommendations and reforms to Gov. Robert Bentley in February.  The aim? To address the challenges the State faces in providing skilled workers to fill a growing number of manufacturing and technical jobs.

Zeke Smith, Council Chairman and Executive Vice President of Alabama Power, along with SAWDC Chairman, Sandra Koblas, Director of Human Resources, Austal USA, and Chancellor Mark Heinrich were on hand to make the presentation.

Jeff Davis and Reid State for  Excellence in Training 

Central Gulf Industrial Alliance (CGIA), a consortium of industrial businesses and contractors spanning the Gulf Coast counties in Mississippi, Alabama and Northwest Florida, partnered with the Southwest Alabama Workforce Development Council (SAWDC) to identify and promote industrial construction workforce development programs, which are training to industry standards, in the SAWDC 8-county region through its Industrial Trades Program Review and Endorsement Program.
