       Around the world, a growing awareness that our economic systems and patterns of consumption need updating is spurring a shift in the way society will think about, create, and measure value for the future. A revolution is underway and brands have a role to play.
       The race is now on for brands to retool themselves for success by playing a leadership role in the sustainability revolution that Harvard Business Review calls the "megatrend of the 21st century." From Patagonia's drive to encourage consumers to buy less, to Levi's efforts to encourage a consumer brand partnership in support of smart water, to AirBnB.com, who's innovative business model promotes more efficient sharing of resources and space – sustainable brand leaders are already rushing to explore how they can leverage their brands as platforms for purpose and in so doing, meet the challenge of creating shared value for all their stakeholders.

The Revolution Will Be Branded

       Over the past half decade, Sustainable Brands has become ground zero for those sustainability, brand and design leaders who have been working to understand and leverage environmental and social innovation as a driver of brand value. This June, the Sustainable Brands community gathers at the Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego for Sustainable Brands '12. There, we will explore the nature of the global revolution taking place, as well as honor and learn from those brands that are already helping lead the way to a flourishing future.
