Newberry President Named to SACSCOC Board of Trustees



NEWBERRY, S.C. - Newberry College President Dr. Maurice Scherrens has been elected to the South Carolina delegation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

SACSCOC oversees the accreditation of colleges within the southern region, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Career Connections Job Fair February 9 in Columbia

Students  and prospective employers discussing employment opportunities.

Students from SCICU's member colleges and universities will meet, greet, and interview with prospective employers during the 22nd annual Career Connections Job Fair on February 9, 2016. 

Representatives from private sector companies, non-profits, and state/federal government entities will be available to meet with students during this Columbia-based event.

2016 Student Research Symposium February 18
Milliken & Company Corporate Headquarters, Spartanburg

SCICU member college students who were awarded research grants in Spring 2015 will present their project findings at the Annual Research Symposium on February 18 at Milliken & Company corporate headquarters in Spartanburg.

Generous SCICU donors gave more than $98,000 to support these research projects.

Columbia College To Host SCICU
Teacher Recruitment Day March 10



Education majors attending SCICU's member colleges and universities are invited to participate in Teacher Recruitment Day on March 10, 2016 at Columbia College.

The event is open to graduating education majors from SCICU member institutions. These student candidates will be seeking opportunities for certified teaching positions beginning in fall 2016.

Deadline Approaching for Research Proposal
Submissions for 2016 Student Research Program

February 29, 2016 is the deadline for submitting grant requests/ proposals for the 201 6 SCICU-sponsored Student/Faculty Research Program. 

2016 marks the 19th year SCICU has sponsored the research program specifically for students attending SCICU's 20 member private colleges and universities.
 
The 2016 Student/Faculty Research Program will give students opportunities to receive funding in support of research projects in scientific, historical, cultural, and social fields.
