HSN brings INVENTING JOY Book Tour to SCORE

As an offshoot of SCORE's new partnership with HSN,  Joy Mangano, author of INVENTING JOY,  offered exclusive events for a handful of SCORE chapters during her book tour.  INVENTING JOY is a must read for budding entrepreneurs, complete with 25 vital principles that Joy has used to build her own business, family and life.

The private book tour event in SCORE Nashville on Saturday November 11 had 27 clients and 5 SCORE mentors. Joy was kind enough to offer a free copy of her book to all SCORE-related people, which was a huge hit. Private events were also held in SCORE Birmingham and SCORE Tampa. HSN and SCORE appreciate all of the efforts our chapters made to bring attention to these events!

The Business Outlook after Irma Appears Bright for Collier County, Florida

The Naples Daily News, in partnership with SCORE Naples, conducted a roundtable discussion among some of the area's most prominent business leaders.

The discussions centered on the outlook for businesses post Hurricane Irma. While Irma dealt the state a temporary blow, it's back to business as usual according to panelist, Leo Ochs, the Collier County Manager. However, the loss of September revenue, no insurance coverage, or capital reserves for the unexpected will undoubtedly impact some small businesses.

The discussions were attended by more than 100 people. It is one of a series of presentations offered to Collier County and surrounding areas.

SCORE Palm Beach Small Business Summit

SCORE Palm Beach held a Small Business Summit on Thursday November 2. Over  200 were in attendance for the event's 6 presentations. This event gave SCORE Palm Beach the opportunity to highlight their 90+ workshops and Certificate Programs offered each year.

Achieve More with Chapter Grants
SCORE Greater Phoenix applied for and received a Chapter Grant in FY2017. With the $5,000 received they focused on improving relationships with organizations focused on minority and women-owned small businesses.

In FY2017 they interacted with just over 300 new clients and have established ongoing relationships with the Arizona Hispanic Chamber, the Arizona Women's Education and Employment Center, the Korean Chamber, and the Black Chamber of Arizona. They are actively planning to deliver additional workshops and mentoring in partnership with these organizations in FY2018 and intend to engage the Arizona Veterans' Chamber as well.
