Time to renew your membership 
SCRWA membership renewals will be going out in the next few weeks. If your membership is set to expire between January and March, you should receive a renewal notice by mail. Contact SCRWA's Membership Coordinator, Raine Cherry if you have any questions about your membership status.

Water University launches upgraded website 
DUNCAN, Okla. - Water University has completed a site-wide upgrade to improve the appearance and function of the website. Read more.

SCRWA continuing education program 
Through the water/wastewater continuing education program, SCRWA provides water and wastewater professionals the opportunity to fulfill their obligations for operator license renewals, as well as relevant and up-to-date regulatory compliance, technological and operational training. Read more.

Reminder: Between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2017 every operator must obtain a total of 12 hours (clock hours) of continuing education or pass an exam of the next highest level. Read more

FEMA updated the National Planning Frameworks
FEMA and its partners just released updated National Planning Frameworks for Prevention, Protection, Mitigation, Response, and Recovery. The Frameworks outline roles and responsibilities from the firehouse to the White House and help us understand how we coordinate, share information, and work together to become a more secure and resilient nation. Senate passes Water Resources Development Act 
The Senate passed the Water Resources Development Act of 2016 (WRDA) last week on a broad, bi-partisan vote of 95 to 3. The bill, S.2848, which had been expected to pass, includes funding for several water and wastewater priorities such as funds to jump-start the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) pilot program, emergency funding for the water crisis in Flint, Mich., and new assistance to help schools and communities remove lead that has leached from service lines and plumbing fixtures. South Carolina Rural Water (SCRWA) requests House support of provisions in the Senate version of the WRDA Bill
In an October 24 letter to Congress, SCRWA observes,  "The WRDA bill's scope is expansive; there are provisions in the Senate and House bills that will have to be reconciled in conference that concern us." Read the letter .

EPA to propose perchlorate rule by October 2018
Under an agreement reached yesterday between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), perchlorate in drinking water will be subject to federal regulation no later than December 17, 2019. Read more.
