San Diego Inventors Forum
November 2016

Welcome inventors, innovators and creators!!

We thank Stephen Key for being our Speaker of the Month for October!

For the past 15 years, Stephen Key has been teaching creative people from more than 40 countries how to profit from their ingenuity. During his presentation, he outlined the obstacles that most frequently trip up inventors who want to license their ideas and described his strategies for overcoming them. His presentation included concrete tips including a pull-through marketing technique, win-win negotiation strategy, and why a $65 provisional patent application is all you need to license your idea. http://www.inventright.com/

This month we welcome David B. Waller, M.S., J.D.
Presenting: Some Common Misconceptions about Patents and the Patenting Process

About the Presenter

David graduated from UCSD Revelle College and became a Research Chemist for Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. He later pursued an advanced degree in Physical Biochemistry at the University of Denver and continued as a Research Scientist for Molecular Biosystems and Immuno Pharmaceutics. As an inventor of some of the company's core technologies his interest in patent law inspired a pursuit of a Law Degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. During law school David worked for Viagene and became a patent agent. Working with corporate counsel, then Seed & Berry, he helped to develop the company's intellectual property portfolio, which later resulted in the sale of Viagene to then Chiron Corporation. After graduating, David became a sole practitioner in San Diego, later working for a large law firm, Gordon & Rees and a smaller boutique IP firm in Virginia, The Nath Law Group. Currently David is the President of Patent Success Strategies, LLC an intellectual Property Management company here in San Diego.

SDIF - The Place to Be
SDIF monthly meetings are the ideal place to get help on all aspects of inventing as well as make new contacts. Unlike other inventors' organizations, we have no costly annual dues or membership requirements. All you need is a desire to learn about the world of inventing and to network with like-minded people. Whether you're an inventor or a service provider to inventors, SDIF is the place to be the second Thursday of each month!

Patents, patents, patents!!

Thanks for helping raise awareness!

To show support for inventors and innovators that create jobs, local inventors rallied with US Inventor's in the last few weeks to protect your rights to profit from your ideas which is the American dream and cornerstone of our countries freedoms.

SDIF Election
Election for the SDIF BOD this month

During the meeting David Waller will announce the election and pass out the ballots. Once everyone has a ballot David will explain the rules; one vote per candidate only. If they do not see a candidate of choice on the ballot they may enter that candidate's name in the "write-in" spaces at the end of the ballot.

Two- minute Board of Directors candidate speeches may be presented if the candidates would like to give such . All four incumbents are currently running unopposed. We do have two individuals running for Member-at-Large positions.

Once the votes are cast, David will have someone in the audience collect them and two individuals from our membership count them.  While the ballots are being counted the meeting will continue. After the presentation, the results of the election I will present the results to the members.

Thank you for supporting our organization!

Elections and inventors rights
Your vote matters - Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Profiting from your own ideas is a cornerstone of our country's foundation.
These rights are being
eroded.
Patent laws matter and the new laws are hurting the American Inventor.

Please vote for candidates that support inventors rights.
In this election there are candidates that chose big corporations rights over the independent inventor. Our vote can change this picture.
Patents made, make and keep our country great!
  • Support your local inventor,  repeal AIA
  • New patents,  new products = new jobs
  • Save our economy, save the American Inventor!
  • Inventors rights matter!
  • Don't let big corporations  bury American dreams.
  • All human progress comes from new ideas.
  • Patent laws matter.

Please vote for candidates that support us independent American Inventors!

Thank you,

Adrian
