The federal government shutdown is not only very disappointing, but it also puts our continued services at risk. We are working with our workforce colleagues around the state and country to monitor the situation and to explore options. Through it all, our staff and funded partners remain focused on our mission to provide quality job training programs for thousands of San Diego County residents. We will continue to provide updates as the situation progresses, so please be sure to follow our social media pages for the latest information.

In addition, despite the uncertainty in D.C., we have good news to share! Three new industry reports have been released; the new Bank of America Merrill Lynch career center has opened in the downtown library; numerous industry-focused events are taking place in San Diego; and our summer youth employment program, CONNECT2Careers is celebrating a great summer of successes. New SD Central Library Bank of America Merrill Lynch Career Center Opens
Located on the fifth floor of the new downtown library, the career center provides individual and small group counseling services, resource materials, computer and resume assistance, workshops, training to job seekers, and more. Read on.

The summer youth initiative has reached its goal by placing more than 200 young adults with employer paid internships this summer. Did you know that every dollar earned in a summer jobs program generates 1.37 dollars of economic activity in the region? Read on.

The San Diego Workforce Partnership's Research and Labor Market Information department gathered data from various sources and created a dashboard to answer frequently asked questions regarding San Diego's unemployment rate, self-sufficiency wage information, top online postings, projected job growth, and more. The report profiles San Diego's top 50 occupations and identifies critical skills, education and training requirements, wages, growth patterns, and more. This data can be used to educate students and job seekers, inform educators and training providers, and provide guidance when making career decisions. Read on.

Chamber Delegation Advocates for San Diego
