This year's theme is Gear Up! and our focus is discipling. Teens will learn the teachings of Jesus, to internailize those teachings so they really understand them and, hopefully, become devoted to them. Then they will learn about following Jesus and leading others to follow Him as well. Read more...

An Eventful Summer Camp
Summer Camp has come to a close and all is well. We had a little excitement towards the end with lightning and thunder. On one day we had lightning strike one of the trees near the horse corral. Although we knew something had been struck, we did not see anything at first. A few minutes later, one of our staff noticed smoke and then saw a fire. Our maintenance worker Jake Guy, and our assistant director, David Machado, were able to put the fire out with fire extinguishers and shovels. We are grateful to them and God that the fire did not have a chance to spread. We did sustain other damage that day. We had several computer switches blow out, a CAT5 line fry, and a main switch on our server was rendered useless due to an electrical surge as a result of the lightning. Even Memo, from the conference IT department, had to drive up and spend a day helping us restore the system.
A few days later, just after the last summer campers had left, we had another lightning strike up past North Village. All seemed ok, but the next day is when we realized the damage. A transformer had blown and so had a coil in the pool pump. We had to do a little scrambling since we had a youth group of about 100 teens showing up the day after summer camp ended. We ended up housing some of the teens in the lodge instead of North Village since we couldn't get the parts to make the repairs until a day later. Although the lightning storms were impressive, they were very costly due to the repairs that we had to make.
Despite all of the challenges, we are grateful for the blessings that we witnessed during summer camp. As always, we begin a very busy season of retreats. We ask for you to join us in praying for energy, love, patience, and grace as we minister to the different groups who come here to encounter God. |
PSR Summer Camp | | Thank You! Summer Camp 2012 has ended and we want to thank you for the opportunity to bring your youth to the throne of Christ. The Lord does great works at camp! We are already preparing for Summer 2013. Please keep camp in your prayers as we continue to find new and exciting ways to minister to youth. His blessings to all of you. |
