Interstate 10 construction on schedule; Pair of traffic lights to go up in near future on Hwy. 123

(Seguin) -- Unlike the Austin Street Project, there is one project in the city of Seguin that is progressing on schedule. 

TXDOT Area Engineer Will Lockett had some good news on Tuesday for the Seguin City Council when it comes to the work that TXDOT is overseeing along Interstate 10 and its access roads. Lockett says the I-10 work is progressing faster than they had originally expected.  Read More 


Market, taxable values soar in Seguin; City says values have increased by more than $1 billion since 2003

(Seguin) -- The economy has been growing exponentially in Seguin over the last several years. Seguin Finance Director Susan Caddell provided the Seguin City Council with a snapshot of how the city has done over the last 15 years. Caddell presented the data as part of the council's meeting on Tuesday.
Caddell says both market and taxable values have grown significantly over the years.  Read More



City receives upgraded bond rating


SEGUIN - The City of Seguin received notice that their bond rating was upgraded from AA- to AA and the city's financial outlook adjusted from positive to stable. This is the best rating the city has ever received. Read More

SEDC board gets report on job, housing, retail growth; Hundreds of new homes expected in Seguin during 2018

(Seguin) -- The Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Board of Directors got some good news during its first meeting of 2018. Central States Manufacturing earns IAS Accreditation

 
(Seguin) --In December 2016, Central States Manufacturing began operating out of their new 44,000 square foot facility located at 2902 N. Heideke Street. Their first year in Seguin has exceed expectations with record production and sales volume. Central States now has a new achievement to celebrate. Read More


Manufacturing boom bucks national trend in Seguin

As communities throughout the country struggled with the fallout of the Great Recession in late 2008, Seguin celebrated its selection by Caterpillar Inc. as the site of a new $170 million manufacturing facility.

The announcement marked the beginning of a renaissance for this important industry that has been part of our community since it was founded in the 1830s.

From 2008 to 2015, more than 3,000 new jobs were created here due largely to major recruitment and expansion manufacturing projects that also included Continental Automotive Systems, Niagara Bottling and food products manufacturer the Siro Group. Read More


Seguin ISD wants to become a District of Innovation
(Seguin) -- The Seguin ISD is looking at the possibility of being designated as a District of Innovation for the 2018-2019 school year. 
 
Jason Schmidt, Seguin ISD's assistant superintendent of learning and leadership services, recently brought forth the proposal to members of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. Schmidt says the 84th Texas Legislative Session helped to provide this opportunity for Texas public school districts. He says the designation in essence gives the local district more freedom and flexibility when implementing innovative learning experiences or educational strategies for its students.  Read more
