Did you know?
The SEEC was recommended for Accreditation after its External Review Team visit Nov. 6-9!

The SEEC welcomed the AdvancED External Review team Nov. 6-9 and took them on the road to visit 10 member schools while also getting the chance to visit with governing board members, superintendents, principals, outside stakeholders and SEEC staff! A HUGE thank you to all of our members for supporting us and allowing us into your schools. We only exist because of you!

Shout Outs!
Potlucks. Parties. Holidays. OH MY!
How do we keep our family healthy, active and able to fight off those
holiday pounds and bouts of laziness?
by Keely Ihry, SEEC Healthy Schools Coordinator

Work potlucks. Family get-togethers. Holiday parties. Church programs. Cookies. Classroom/Daycare celebrations. Band concerts. Community events. Food. MORE FOOD! The holiday season is a favorite time of year for many, but it can also be a busy and sometimes stressful time.

When the average American gains 1-5 pounds over the holiday season, how do you find time to make healthy choices to prevent being part of that statistic? "I think I'll start my new diet the Monday before Thanksgiving... or maybe wait until the Monday after," is not usually something we tell ourselves. This also does not sound like a wise or practical decision that will have a successful outcome.

Diets and lifestyle changes usually get pushed off and become a New Year resolution... so this year, let's change our mindset to be 'maintain and don't gain' this holiday season!

But what about the kids!? They don't need to worry about staying healthy over the holidays, right? Wrong! Focusing on keeping them healthy is just as important!

I have some tips for you to keep active, healthy and having fun over the upcoming holidays!

LaMoure SmartLab
Milnor Public Schools
SEEC Website Redesign
We need your input!

Have you heard of the SmartLab happening in LaMoure?

Principals DelaBarre and Musland shared its newly implemented SmartLab with other SEEC principals at the November principals meeting.

Learn what a SmartLab entails, how they worked it into their schedules and see students at work!

Do you have a SmartLab? Is your district considering getting on?

Chris Larson,  Milnor Public Schools Superintendent

"We have been implementing changes and programs over the last few years. I am extremely proud of our teachers and administrative team as they continue to work toward making the best programs and frameworks possible for the students of our district.

The SEEC will be redesigning its website and wants to make sure our end user, THAT MEANS YOU, are getting exactly what you need.

We are looking for input on the reasons WHY you come to our site, what we have that you LOVE, what you WISH we had, and possibly what we could do away with or reformat.

Any feedback is great and much appreciated. Thank you!

Nearly 200 English Language educators from North Dakota and South Dakota came together Nov. 9-10 to focus on "Infusing Academic Language in Content."

Evaluation feedback showed that overall the sessions were highly praised and thought to be informative and relevant. Plus teacher and administrator workshops were found to be quite useful. Presentation materials can be found on the Dakota TESL website.

"Very well organized and I am going back to my school FULL of things I am excited to use to take my teaching to the next level. A great conference! Thanks so much."
