Let's Move! Active Schools

Three SEEC member schools have been awarded the Let's Move! Active Schools National Award - the nation's top physical education and physical activity distinction for K-12 schools. It celebrates a school's commitment to providing students with at least 60 minutes a day of before, during and after-school physical activity. Only one other ND school, Kennedy Elementary (Fargo), has received this honor, and only 544 schools across the country in 2016! Congratulations to:
N.D. Multi-Tiered System of Supports:

A Framework for Success
by Jennifer Glasheen, Director of Teaching & Learning (and part-time MTSS Coordinator!)

It's fall. It always amazes me how much work happens at the beginning of the year and never surprises me how happy we all are that there are two days off in October to catch our breath! How do we keep going at this pace all year long? Why would we want to? Simple. It's all about the kids! However, nothing is ever that simple!

Administrators, teachers, support staff and entire systems are spending a great deal of time and effort trying to do the work of school improvement, engaging in the conversation around how to work smarter and trying to answer some key questions:
  • How do we create a system where ALL STUDENTS can be successful?
  • How do we create a system where ALL TEACHERS can be successful?
  • How do we create a system where ALL INITIATIVES align to promote DISTRICT improvement and success?
  • How do we create a system where ALL RESOURCES and SUPPORTS are allocated to support these overarching school improvement goals?

We have been working on this work too!

Ready to create a makerspace in your school?

You've been hearing the words makerspace A LOT over the last year and we continue to see the idea pop up in articles, social media posts, you name it! So, now you have to think... is it something you can create in your school?

We hope the answer can be YES!  So we've pulled together some great examples of how others have made it happen.

Have you created a Makerspace in your school?
