About Kate McCarthy (Presenting for the SFMTA Van Ness Improvement Project)

Kate McCarthy is a Public Information Officer at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) for the Van Ness Improvement Project, a major civic improvement project beginning construction in 2016 that will bring San Francisco its first Bus Rapid Transit system, a much-needed and globally proven solution to improve transit service and address traffic congestion on Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco, along with major utility upgrades and maintenance work. Ms. McCarthy delivers a quadrilingual, multichannel public information program for the SFMTA that includes public outreach, education and community engagement. Her work has been recognized by the California State Assembly in December 2015 with a commendation, and in 2010 she was awarded the Alliance for Biking and Walking's Susie Stephens Joyful Enthusiasm Advocacy Award. Ms. McCarthy has been working with the public to improve transportation in San Francisco for over a decade.

About Colin Dentel-Post (Presenting for the SFCTA Geary Bus Rapid Transit Project)

Colin Dentel-Post is the Project Manager for the Geary Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project at the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA). He is currently managing the planning and environmental review process for the project, including working to refine the project based on the needs and input of stakeholders along the corridor. He is also currently working with partner agencies and the Late Night Transportation Working Group to improve late-night and early-morning transportation options in San Francisco. Since joining the SFCTA in 2010, he has engaged in a range of transportation planning efforts across the city, including the Van Ness BRT project, studies for new and upgraded Caltrain stations in the Bayview and Visitacion Valley, and the 2013 long-range San Francisco Transportation Plan. Colin previously worked in the land use planning field and holds a Master of City Planning degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
