Senior Honors Project Symposium
Join our seniors as they present their Senior Honors Project research and community action plans.
Opening Ceremony at 8:15 - PPWC
*Day Buses will be departing 30 minutes early from communities.
HS PAC Honor Roll Banquet - 9-11 grade
By invitation @ 6pm at the Cafeteria
ALL SENIORS AND PARENTS - FEES: For any senior who still needs to pay their Senior Fees, there will be multiple options the day of symposium to pay. Patrice Chavez will be available throughout the day to accept fees. There will be a table set up at the closing reception to pay fees, also, fees can be paid online, or fees can be paid to Melinda in the administration building. These fees cover the cap and gown ($35), and the senior banquet and class trip ($40), and are required by all seniors. The deadline to pay is April 27 th.

Library Outdoor Patio Grand Opening
Join us for a grand opening on Thursday, May 3, during HS and MS lunch, to learn about the guidelines and schedule for using/signing up for the space. Light refreshments will be served.

NEWS FOR WEEK OF 4/27-5/4
Congratulations to seniors Iesha Pacheco and Tolaska Hunts Along for receiving the annual 2018 Elks Lodge “outstanding student” award.
The award is based on Involvement in school activities and outside organizations, leadership qualities, good moral character, grades. and the determination
to overcome challenges at school or at home. In other words, an outstanding young citizens.  CONGRATULATIONS Iesha and Tolaska.
Chess Team State Champs!
The combined Santa Fe Indian School Chess Teams competed Thursday and Friday of last week in the NMAA State Championship. Our Varsity team consisting of: Michael Cammarata, Jacob Valdez, Jarren Frenier, Dominik Morning Dove, Jordan Moya, and Darius Thronas beat all competitors to take 1 st place in the 4A division. 2 nd place was Hope Christian and 3 rd place was Kirtland Central. The Junior Varsity team of: Charles Suazo, Jose Valdez, Alejandro Tenorio, Samuel Martinez, Ilan LongSoldier, and Savannah Wright took first place in the Junior Varsity Division beating AIMS and Mandela for the 1 st time in 6 years. The middle school team of: Javon Tosa, Andon Toya, James Valdez, Jamell Sanchez, Kyle Suina and Jestin Coriz fought valiantly but did not place. Great ending Braves and Lady Braves to a wonderful 2017-2018 season. 
Congrats to Coach Gorospe who received a Career Achievement Award at the Menaul meet, 4/21.

We are grateful for Coach Gorospe's continued contributions to SFIS!
Thanks to LANL foundation for their support of Kewa Keres language class with their efforts to promote language use, gardening, recycling, water saving in their global buckets self-watering container garden project!

SAVE THE DATE! This year’s theme is GALAXY!

Tickets will be on sale from April 23 rd  to May 4 th   before and after school in Patrice Chavez’s office and at lunch in the cafeteria. Tickets are $20.00 per person and will include entry to the Prom, digital photos from a professional photographer, snacks and desserts. If you are bringing a guest from off campus that is a non-SFIS student, you must have them complete a Prom Guest form prior to your tickets being purchased. Prom Guest forms can be picked up in the MST office.

-          The 35 – Seventh and 42 – Eighth Grade Students who made Honor Roll for 3 – consecutive terms. These students were honored at the PAC Banquet on Thursday April 26, 2018.
-          To Jace Trancosa and Natalia Chavez for being recognized as Outstanding Students by the Santa Fe Elks Lodge.
-          To the 60 + students who participated in Spring Sports (softball, baseball and track).

The Core Value that the MS students will be focusing on during the month of may is “Faith”!
COLLEGE & SUMMER PROGRAM INFORMATION
Kewa Tribal members: Opportunity for educational funding:
Camp Cardiac! Summer camp opportunity through the UNM School of Medicine. This is a one week camp from June 11 th-15 th 8:30 to 4pm daily and it is open to all HS students even graduates of 2018. Please see Mrs. Sallah for a flyer or you can click on the link attached to learn more. There are scholarships available and the deadline to apply is May 7 th!
Camp Cardiac-Albuquerque: 
Mesa Prieta Petroglyph Project
Students (ages 13-18): Interested in archaeology? The Mesa Prieta Petroglyph Project is accepting applications for their Summer Youth Intern Prgram (June 11-22). The application deadline is May 10, 2018. More information and application forms can be found at: mesaprietapetroglyphs.org and phone number is (505) 852-1351.
CNM Summer Dual Credit
