V OTE! VOTE! VOTE!

As your mail and voice mail boxes fill with pleads for your vote please don't overlook PROP E. Supported by your local artists and not by rich special interest groups.

As a non-profit theater arts organization in increasingly expensive San Francisco we have spent six decades presenting annual free shows to our fellow residents. We have been only able to do this with the loyal financial support of San Francisco government arts funders. But now their own funding is threatened which would be devastating for the all who cherish the rich arts and culture that represent the soul of our city.

Vote Yes on E
Proposition E is a local ballot measure that aims to restore funding for arts and culture in San Francisco through the Hotel Tax. It will allocate a portion of the projected revenue increase of the Hotel Tax to fund development of cultural equity programs for underserved communities, arts programming, and funding for Cultural Districts and Cultural Centers in San Francisco, benefiting ALL San Franciscans.

It's Tax Time: April Dec 10. SFMT is a grateful grantee of the Voluntary Arts Contribution Fund. We ask all SF PROPERTY OWNERS to regularly check the VACF box on their tax bills and give a donation to help their local San Francisco Arts organizations maintain a home in this increasingly expensive city.
INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED BREAD & PUPPET THEATER
TO PERFORM in the BAY AREA
ONE WEEKEND ONLY! October 26th through 28th

Vermont's legendary Bread and Puppet Theater returns to the Bay Area the last weekend of October with two new shows and a street theater workshop at venues in San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley. The 55 year-old political puppet theater will perform The Basic Bye-bye Show, a manifesto on transformation inspired by Albrecht Dürer's apocalyptic woodcuts and the daily news, and The Grasshopper Rebellion Circus, a show that demonstrates riot and rebellion against intolerable situations with the help of state of the art paper-maché weaponry and the riotous Bread and Puppet Brass Band.

Our filmmaker friend, Glenn Silber, who co-directed the 1985 feature documentary, "TROUPERS" on the SFMT
(with Claudia Vianello) has an important film,  The War at Home, coming to theaters in San Francisco and Berkeley for a week - starting TODAY!

We are looking for a small but scalable logo that incorporates our name, a red star, and whatever else you feel moved to include based your love of the Troupe.

Please email your design to: [email protected]

The Plays of the San Francisco Mime Troupe

The never silent, hilariously thought-provoking,Tony and OBIE award-winning San Francisco Mime Troupe, in celebration of our 60 years of revolutionary theatre has put together an anthology of our scripts from 2000 - 2016. From the War on Terror to the War on Drugs, from genetically modified foods to financially modified democracy, from corporate personhood to Occupy to Trump - the Troupe has dealt with the issues of the day with our particular brand of outrageous, hard-hitting political musical comedies, tragedies, farces, and melodramas. Speaking truth to power, giving voice to the voiceless, comforting the afflicted, afflicting the comfortable, this collection of scripts is being provided - including introductions to the plays, photos, fan quotes, and artists biographies - at price every fan, supporter, student, historian, and comrade of the Troupe can afford... FREE!
