Dear Beauceant Sisters,    

     Happy Halloween in June.  On June 20th, we celebrated our Reciprocity and Reception Honoring Mrs. Barbara Miller, Supreme Courier and (Mrs. Vincent) Luciann Bell, Supreme Committee Knight Templar Eye Foundation Area 1, Chairman.  That day, we locked our doors and turned out the lights, and let the ghosts and goblins spook you with fright!  We jumped in fear, hid from sight and closed our eyes in fright. We feasted on Quiche Lorraine, green salad and picked beets with fruit on the side. The dessert provided by our (Mrs. Mourad) Lelia Kaplainian add the special spark for the day.  What a way to send us off to enjoy our summer break! 

      Unfortunately, our summer social event on July 19th was cancelled due to conflicts with other Masonic events. Do not despair, on July 19th is the York Rite Family Picnic at Griffin Park.  Everyone bring you favorite dish.  Eat and enjoy the multiple games.  All is invited.  Bring your children, grandchildren and family to enjoy the day. Details will be provided in the July & August Newsletter.

         Don't forget July4th.  The Los Angeles Commandery #9 Drill Team will be marching in the 4th July Santa Clarita Parade. We will be joined by Most Worshipful Grand Master, John L. Cooper III, of the Grand Lodge of California, Most Excellent Grand High Priest, Jon D. Humpreys of the Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons of California, Most Illustrious Grand Master, David L. Chesebro, of the Grand Council of Criptic Masons of California, and our very own Right Eminent Grand Commander, Carlos H. Gonzalez of the Grand Commandery of the Knights Templar of Califonia.  Come and join us in cheering our fellow masons.  Old West Lodge will be providing a BBQ lunch for all participates.

         On July 5th, please come and support the Four Way Grand York Rite Receptions honoring the Grand Master and Grand York Rite Bodies of California.  Sisters, please wear our official uniforms with tea or formal length skirts.  Come and celebrate!

Four Way Grand York Rite Reception

Just because we are "dark" in July and August, it does not mean that there is nothing happening at the San Fernando Valley York Rite. In fact, we made sure that you won't wander too far by scheduling a fun-packed summer!

Don't forget to come out to the Van Nuys Masonic Building on July 5 at 6:30PM for our annual Four-way Reception, honoring the Grand Master of Masons in California, Most Worshipful John L. Cooper III; the Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in California, Most Excellent Companion Jon D. Humphreys, KYGCH; the Illustrious Grand Master of Cryptic Masons in California, Most Illustrious Companion David L. Chesebro, KYGCH; and the Grand Commander of Knights Templar in California, our very own Sir Knight Carlos Hugo Gonzalez, KTCH, KYGCH. Nothing beats summertime in Southern California! It is again time for our annual York Rite Picnic. It will be at noon on July 19. We will be having it at the Griffith Park. The picnic area is just about 2 miles from the golf course. Bring the whole family! This is an open event, so feel free to bring your friends and Blue Lodge brothers who are "not yet" York Rite Masons. Please RSVP by going to https://sites.google.com/site/2014yorkritepicnic/. It is an exciting time to be a Cryptic Mason! If you haven't heard, on August 2, we will be conferring the Super Excellent Master Degree. Omega Council is fortunate to be one of the few Cryptic Councils that is able to perform this Degree. This Degree requires a tremendous amount of preparation and dedication to carry out. The Degree is performed by Omega Council roughly every three years. And this year, we will be performing it at the Long Beach Scottish Rite's Ernest Borgnine Theatre.  There is no charge to receive the degree but lunch is $10, if you wish to order it. Two days after the Super Excellent Master Degree, on August 4, we will wash down the Degree hangover by having a barbecue at Comp. Dan Hood's, and his lady Penny's, backyard. Their lovely home is located at 4553 Sancola Ave., Toluca Lake, CA 91602. This event starts at 6PM. This annual event is always a blast! So don't miss it!

It's never too early to invite your Blue Lodge brothers to join the York Rite. We will be conferring the York Rite Degrees again, beginning on September 13 with the Chapter Degrees, followed by the Cryptic Degrees on September 22, then finally the Commandery Orders on September 27. As you can see, your York Rite membership is full of excitement! I look forward to seeing all of you in these upcoming events.

 Dear Ladies and Sir Knights, 

The month of May was busy for our Commandery. The last two drill practices prior to attending Grand Sessions is a busy time. Opening day is always interesting. Schedules and accomodations are taken in stride. Our drill team looked and worked very well, as have all of the others. The pageantry was impressive and inspiring. Watching the Commanderies enter and form up in front of the Right Eminent Grand Commander and his staff and competition judges was a great pleasure.  It's always nice to be in the presence of distinguished and honored Knights Templar.  Then there was the elegant and inspiring installation of our new Right Eminent Grand Commander Sir Knight Carlos Gonzalez. 

We will not forget the beautiful reception hosted by the Ladies of our Beauceant Chapter. They also hosted the hospitality suite throughout the Sessions. We appreciate their thoughtful and diligent efforts throughout the Sessions.

June brings us to our Degree Festival, Father's Day and Saint John the Baptist Day. A new generation of graduating students will be prepared for a variety of professions.  

We remember that except for the July Fourth Parade, the reception for the Grand Master and York Rite Grand  Officers, the Orders on the Twelfth of July, the picnic on the Nineteenth of July and the Midnight Mission Service on the Twentieth of July there will be no Conclaves during July and August. 

We are looking forward to the pleasure of you company at these events.
