Pedestrian Count Hits New High
Friday, October 7th was our busiest Friday of 2016 with 14,576 people counted in the Chapel, High and Orange Streets area!

A combination of events, 9th Square's Noodles On9, City Wide Open Studios Opening, and Parents Weekend at Yale University were all factors contributing to this record number.

Here's what the overall pedestrian footfall looked like for the October 7-9 weekend. Data combines counters placed at Chapel & High and 96 Orange St.

Friday, October 7 | 14,576
Saturday, October 8 | 11,634
Sunday, October 9 | 6,754

Here are the total weekly counts from October 3-9 | Chapel (39,023) | High (13,871) | Reynolds Gallery side of the street (8,283) | B Natural Cafe side of the street (10,650).   The total monthly count for October was 262,803 bringing the total count for the year to date to 2,910,803.
C'Viche 181
Mayor Toni N. Harp joined C'Viche 181's Mariella Ordonez and Christian Bonilla in a ribbon cutting celebration on Wednesday, November 2nd at the restaurant's 181 Orange Street location.

This new addition to New Haven's Historic 9th Square offers contemporary Peruvian cuisine as well as classic dishes like Cerviche and Cau Cau.

A recent Zagat reviewer said "Expect an elevated spin on Peruvian classics at this stylish New Haven spot, doling out a seafood-focused menu plus beer & wine. The dining room features black-and-white photography, muted decor, simple seating and large windows."
Bigbellys
Chapel Street now has Eight " Bigbellys"!

Bigbellys are solar powered trash & recycling compactors which supports the City's Anti-Litter Campaign & Clean Cities Initiatives. This is the first round of receptacles in a pilot program.

How it works - by combining increased on-site capacity with compaction, implementing a public space recycling program and using real-time data and analytics to drive operational planning and resource allocation, Town Green can save money, reduce New Haven's carbon footprint and make our public spaces more attractive for citizens, businesses and visitors.
