6 Things You Need to Know

Congratulations Amy!

SISV chose Amy Corneau as our "Volunteer of the Year" for the Simi Valley Community Council.

On June 10th, Amy was honored with other winners by our local and statewide officials and of course with SISV sisters!

Congrats Amy, well deserved!!!

Little Black Dress!!

If you only attend one summer event - it HAS to be Little Black Dress!

The legendary soiree will be at an incredible new location this year - Quail Ranch - but will have all of the elements that make this event stand out: all male "celebrity waiter" crew, delicious food and drink, fashion show, silent auction, and the lovely and generous ladies of Simi Valley.

Little Black Dress 2016 raised nearly $20,000 to support SISV's programs, including our "Live Your Dream" educational grants, mentoring programs for teenage girls in Simi Valley middle schools, and the day-long iMatter! girls conference held each fall.

Don't Make Dinner...

It's that time of year again!  Time for the Don't Make Dinner, Make Reservations raffle and fundraiser!   We hope all of our amazing members will pitch in to help make this another successful fundraiser for us.  It's so easy and has raised $6000 in the last 2 years!

All you have to do is solicit or donate a gift card to your favorite restaurant and bring it to the next luncheon meeting.  And if you'd like to help sell tickets, they will be available at our upcoming luncheon.

And don't forget to buy tickets yourself!

Questions or donations to turn in?  Contact our Chair Sandee Covone.

Sisters Needed 6/19/17

SISV has applied for a Community Grant for iMatter!, our teen outreach programs.  The applications will be evaluated by the CPG Review Committee on June 19, 2017 at 5:30pm at the Simi Valley Library Community Room.

We are asking all that can make it to please be there as a show of support and solidarity.  Please wear a blue top, if possible, and your SI pin or button if you have one.

The SV Library is located at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.

Dear SISV,

The loss of my father has put me on a journey of discovery.  Discovering how strong I am and at the same time, how mortal too.  One morning, I was in the shower bracing myself for a wave of sadness.  Just when it was about to crash down, the thought came to me, "It won't always be like this, one day you will feel better."  This thought lifted me out of the depth of my despair and onto a bridge where I could see the other side.
SISV is a little like that bridge too.  A bridge, lifting women from the depths of their challenges onto a path where they can see their goals fulfilled.  A road guiding young girls to success.  Maybe even like a lighthouse, sending a beacon of love to women all over the world, letting them know they are not abandoned or alone.
  .
Although I do not know how long my journey will be, I now have hope, like so many women who's lives we've touched.  I am so proud of this club, who we are and what we represent.  It has been a pleasure serving you.
Thank you for being a Soroptimist!!
Signing Off,
Caroline Gibson
