Hello SISV,

I must say that those who weren't able to attend this years SI Camino Real Region (OUR Region) Spring Conference that you missed a fun and educational weekend. I don't know what the date is for next year's Spring Conference just yet but it will be sometime in April and what I want, more than anything in the whole world, (yes...the WHOLE world) is for ALL of you to make plans to go.

It's truly a bonding experience, not only amongst our Club members but with the other 24 Clubs in our region. This year there were 22 Clubs represented and 235 ladies in attendance (15 of which were from SISV) . Our very own Director of Teen Outreach, Amy Corneau, was the instructor for a DiBi breakout session and Kathi King was the Chair of Volunteers. A big thank you to both of them for representing our Club so well.  AND we won 3 awards!!  Woo Hoo!!  It's nice to be recognized and it's awesome to be called "overachievers" by other Clubs.  I say thank you very much, on behalf of all 65 of us, when I hear that!!
.

Sincerely,
President Debbie

Cheryl Tsieprati, owner of Tsieprati Consulting, worked in the health care industry for nearly 40 years. She has more than 25 years of experience in training consulting, instructional design, writing, and editing and received an award for a comprehensive seminar she developed and facilitated for individuals with neuromuscular diseases and their family caregivers.

For more than 30 years, Cheryl has been the primary caregiver for her husband, Ismail, who is totally paralyzed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease).  The couple share their experiences in One Blink at a Time, an upbeat, inspirational book in which they recount in alternating chapters how they each deal with their daily challenges living with the fatal  disease and progressive paralysis and continue to live happy and productive lives. Ismail spelled out his chapters using eye blinks, letter by letter, word by word.

Little Black Dress!!

If you only attend one summer event - it HAS to be Little Black Dress!

The legendary soiree will be at an incredible new location this year - Quail Ranch - but will have all of the elements that make this event stand out: all male "celebrity waiter" crew, delicious food and drink, fashion show, silent auction, and the lovely and generous ladies of Simi Valley.

Little Black Dress 2016 raised nearly $20,000 to support SISV's programs, including our "Live Your Dream" educational grants, mentoring programs for teenage girls in Simi Valley middle schools, and the day-long iMatter! girls conference held each fall.

Don't Make Dinner...

It's that time of year again!  Time for the Don't Make Dinner, Make Reservations raffle and fundraiser!   We hope all of our amazing members will pitch in to help make this another successful fundraiser for us.  It's so easy and has raised $6000 in the last 2 years!

All you have to do is solicit or donate a gift card to your favorite restaurant and bring it to the next luncheon meeting.  And if you'd like to help sell tickets, they will be available at upcoming dinner.

And don't forget to buy tickets yourself!

Questions or donations to turn in?  Contact our Chair Sandee Covone.
