Between the Little Black Dress fundraiser, the Leadership Summit and the Board retreat which were all in the last two weeks and two days, I can honestly say that I am one happy and pumped up President! I am learning, laughing and listening. I would encourage our Club members to attend all that they can and to get involved. There is lots of camaraderie and connecting with likeminded ladies and it's just amazing what you can get from this Club ...and what you can give to it.

Your forever grateful,
President Debbie

A Successful Retreat!
The word "retreat" by definition means to withdraw or pull away from; typically used in combat. Our experience was the opposite. We took the opportunity to regroup and review the goals and mission of the Simi Valley Soroptimist Chapter. With the guidance of Lisa Eidman, we got to know each other and learn more about ourselves and this organization. We have great things planned for our community this year and are looking forward to sharing them with the entire club.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Once again, we can't thank you enough for attending our great event, Little Black Dress and supporting Soroptimist of Simi Valley. With your help and support we raised over $35,000. Those funds will be used in SISV's ongoing programs (Live Your Dream, Dream It/Be It) and enable us to expand our programs to include our own STOP Human Trafficking program.
Our photos are here!  Thanks to Angelica Marie Photography, we have over 500 photos from Little Black Dress!  We have uploaded all of these photos to our website:

Our club is now accepting applications for the Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards. If you know of a woman who provides the primary financial support for her family while also continuing her education and needs some financial assistance, have her go to our website to see if she is eligible and fill out an application. The deadline is November 17, 2017.
I would like to thank everyone who helped with silent auction for LBD.  Your help made us successful in raising money for our club.
I especially would like to thank all of you who donated items yourself, or brought items in from a donor.  This allowed us to put together 60 auction baskets and raising $8,515.00 along with live auction. Together we can do anything we put our hearts into.  Until next year!
Thank you,
Joyce Erdman, Silent Auction Chair

The Camino Real Region Fall workshop is October 14th from 8:30 to 3:00. Our Club is hosting! It'll be at the Studio Movie Grill and President Debbie is encouraging all of our members to attend. This is a great way to meet members outside our own Club, (there are 22 Clubs in our Region) and learn more about SIA's big picture from our Region's Governor Ginger and her Board. The day includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
The cost is $40.00 if paid before October 1st.
Our Club will send one check for all of members attending so we are asking you to pay on our website. Go to our DONATE button on the home page of our website to make your payment, or you can bring a check made payable to SISV to the Program Luncheon September 14th.
If you buy your ticket before October 1st and you attend the event, SISV will refund half of the registration fee to you.

Kim Santander
Kim Santander is married to a wonderful husband and has 3 beautiful daughters ages 10, 10 and 12. She has been employed as a fulltime police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department for 15 years and is also a co-owner of Pizzscotti. She enjoys being an owner of a restaurant as it allows her to serve customers and offer those in need with the opportunity to host fundraisers.
She joined Soroptimist for a couple of reasons. One was the members. I really enjoy some of the ladies I have met thus far and look forward to meeting many more. The other important reason is teen girls conference, Dream It Be It. As a victim of domestic violence, she is drawn to help other young women and share with them advice and guidance. She looks forward to the many activities and events as a member of the Soroptimists.
Jennifer Graham

Jennifer Graham has been married to, Paul, her high school sweetheart for 7 years. They have two fur babies, Deuce and Piper. She graduated from Cal State Northridge with a BS in Electrical Engineering and then moved on to get my PE license.
Her passion is travel. She visits two new countries every year. If she is not on a vacation, she is planning the next one.
She was raised by a single mother who taught her the value of hard work and independence. It made her strong, determined, and driven which got her to where she is today. She joined Soroptimist because it provides the ability for her to mentor/teach young women these same skills. She wants to help open their eyes to the opportunities that will help them be a part of the change she wants to see in the world.
