"SPORTS BANQUET"
On Thursday, May 11th , St. Joan's held its first annual Sports Recognition Banquet sponsored by the Dads Club.
Monsignor established this new tradition to celebrate 7th & 8th grade varsity athletes and coaches.
We also recognized our Gold Coast League Champions: Flag Football, Girls Volleyball,  Girls Soccer, Baseball, & Softball Teams.
St. Joan honored the head coaches by presenting them with a plaque.
We are excited to display it, along with the other SJA athletic awards, in a trophy case generously provided by the Dad's Club.

A special award was given to one student on each team, the "Gator Award".
This award exemplifies a student athlete who leads by example, in the classroom with scholastic achievements as well as on the court or field.
This athlete shows dedication, leadership, sportsmanship, enthusiasm, skill, humbleness and love for his or her sport.

When someone on the team is down, they are there to boost their spirits.

When the coach asks a favor, they are the first to volunteer.

When a younger player needs help, they are there to give advice.

When the team is facing adversity, they are there to rise to the challenge.
The following students were awarded the
"Gator Award" (in photo below from left to right):
Chris Hicks: Flag Football
Kate Marsenison: Volleyball
Joseph Mollica: Basketball
Jada Fernandes: Basketball
Brianna Annunziata: Cheerleading
Charlie Newstreet: Soccer
Gianna Liguori: Soccer
Joshua Steidl: Baseball
Emma Garbinski: Softball
Grace Thomas: Tennis
William Lamphear: Golf
The evening was filled with music, a slide show of sports photos, a great video made by
Mrs. Marsenison, gorgeous centerpieces by Ms. Downing and her team, delicious food provided by Tucci's, laughs, fun and friends!  Thank you, Coach Martorana and Mrs. Hicks for doing an outstanding job in coordinating the event.
Coach Martorana was our fabulous master of ceremony.
It was a great inaugural year!
