Attendance

We are all interested in the very best education possible for our students; therefore it is imperative that each student attends school every day unless they are sick.  Per McKinney ISD parent/doctor notes must be turned in within three (3) school days of the student's return to school, a note signed by the parent that describes the reason for the absence must be turned in to the attendance clerk for attendance documentation.

Please email attendance notes to Mrs. Hennessy shennessy@mckinneyisd.net
or fax them to 469-302-4901.

For truancy questions, please contact your student's
AP Secretary.

Did you know that the SJMS PTO is a great place for parents to meet other parents as well as keeping your fingers on the pulse of what's going on in your Middle Schooler's life.

The SJMS PTO needs YOUR membership!  Your membership dues help the PTO purchase snacks for the school concession stores, provide teachers with small treats throughout the school year, and help fund other school activities!

Please contact Mrs. Van Dyke for more information.

MISD Department of Instructional Technology
A monthly newsletter for parents, grandparents, families and the community dedicated to updates and information on how McKinney ISD uses technology in the classroom.

The McKinney ISD crisis response plan prohibits parent access to school buildings during a school lock-down, during lock-down drills, and when the district has placed campuses in tornado safe mode. Once the District has placed campuses in a lock-down or tornado safe mode, staff and students will be in protected areas of the building, and not near exterior doors or windows.

Parents and other visitors will not be granted access to the campus for the duration of the lock-down or tornado safe mode.

 Thank you for your cooperation.

If you would like to volunteer at SJMS, please go online and fill out the Volunteer Background form.
Click here to fill out the application
You must complete a new form each year.  Please note that if you do not complete the proper paperwork, you can not help chaperon field trips or help with the school in any way.  We need and want your help, so please fill out the form as soon as possible.
Lost & Found - Library

The Lost and Found is located in the Library. Please remind students to look for any lost items, like jackets and bags. Any items labeled with your child's name will be returned. Any items found of value (cell phone, iPad, electronic device, jewelry, etc) will be kept locked in the Front Office

Dear Tiger Parents,

Wow, we had an incredible week at SJ!  I hope you had one too.  Your kids are so incredible.  They are doing so many amazing things each and everyday here at SJ.  I am so proud of them.

Thank you to all of the parents and students that participated in our Pink Out Day.  It was truly special and memorable.

Donations
Once again, we truly appreciate your support and participation in our school-wide fundraiser.  If you did not get to participate, then it is not too late.  You can still help our school out! You are welcome to donate money directly to the school.  Just send your donation to the front office and our bookkeeper, Kathy Bouchez, will be happy to give you a receipt.

Grades
Friday, October 14th, is the end of our first academic quarter.  Report cards will be available in HAC on Tuesday, October 18th.   If you are concerned about your child's academic progress, then please contact their teacher(s) and set up a conference.  We will be happy to help you plan for their success.

A Gentle Reminder about Halloween
At the secondary level, and specifically at SJMS, we do not allow Halloween costumes during the school day.  Furthermore, in light of the recent issues and concerns, no clown costumes or masks are permitted at anytime on campus (including after school events).

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Be sure to get out and enjoy the fall weather!

Sincerely,

Mitch Curry

Tiger Athletics
Parents -
I wanted to pass on to you a Transportation Clarification that has come down from the Athletic Office.
"Transportation clarification - When playing at an out of town venue (ex. Highland Park, Prosper, etc..) athletes are ONLY allowed to ride home with a completed Travel Release form with their parent or guardian.   Everyone is doing a good job of having parents complete the travel release form to take their child; however, there is some confusion about whether or not the travel release form can be completed by a parent who is requesting to release the student to ride home with a teammate's parent.  That is not the case.   An athlete can ONLY ride home from a game with THEIR OWN PARENT OR GUARDIAN.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
