"Living Fearlessly Through Faith..."

A Message From The Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The holy season of Lent is upon us. Lent is a call to return to our relationship with God and the purpose of our baptism. Baptism gifted us with a loving, intimate, personal relationship with God. It gave a purpose for our lives, a path for us to walk through this world. As humans, we sin and sin will blur and, in some cases, destroy that relationship. The change of heart Lent calls us to is the restoration of that relationship with the Father.  Lent provides us with an opportunity for a continual change of heart that is the very essence of Christian life and Christian growth. Because we are followers of Christ, his vision becomes our mission: to call sinners to a change of heart.

Each week during morning announcements in the season of Lent, we will pray together as a school community with a short prayer service, reflecting on words of scripture passages and psalms. We journey with the church in this holy Lenten season, anticipating the great feast of Christ’s Resurrection. We are on a journey toward wholeness and holiness and the opportunity for a continual change of heart. As we continue on life’s busy daily routine, let us not lose sight of the richness of the sacred Lenten invitations and symbols. Let our vision focus on the Lenten call to pray, fast and give alms.

Blessings,
Mrs. Amy M. Hannis-Miskar, Principal

    • Lenten Mission Project- It is important that the children understand the idea of sacrifice as a means of drawing closer to Jesus, especially during the season of Lent. With this in mind, the students are asked once again to participate in “ Loose Change Friday’s” beginning Friday, March 3rd. The purpose of this project is to help our children sacrifice some of what they have in order to help others who are experiencing difficulties.  Giving up a snack or some type of treat and putting the money saved in the classroom mission bank will help a family in need in our school community.

    • The Grandparent's Day Program that was originally scheduled during Catholic Schools Week will now be on Tuesday, April 25th at 10:00am.  Details to follow.

    • The Brain Show will be at SJRS for two separate presentations on March 7th!  Grades K-4 will see the show in the morning and grades 5-8 will see the afternoon show.
