Expanded Scholarship Opportunity for CPLS Students

Be recognized for living the Magis. We understand the challenge of achieving what you thought was impossible, like completing your degree, and are here to support students demonstrating academic excellence despite the demands on their time, focus and finances.

"For me, the Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship was the single biggest determination that enabled me to come back to school and work towards achieving my dream of completing my bachelors degree," says Tanya Reyes. "The same day that I received my acceptance to the College of Professional and Liberal Studies at Saint Joseph's University, I came home to a letter from my employer letting me know that my position was being eliminated. I am extremely grateful for the Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship and the opportunity with which it has provided me."

Effective this Fall, the Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship traditionally reserved for female students has now been expanded which enables us to offer this scholarship opportunity to all eligible CPLS students. The Charlotte W. Newcombe Scholarship offers partial scholarships to SJU CPLS students, 25 years or older who have completed at least 60 credits or one-half of the course work necessary for their bachelor's degree and are enrolled on at least 6 credits for the semester to which they are applying. To apply you must have completed the 2013-2014 FAFSA and be registered for 6 or more credits. Scholarships are reviewed and applied for the application semester. Previous recipients will need to reapply for each semester of interest. For more information regarding the application, guidelines, or essay requirements, click here or call the CPLS office at 610-660-1267. Fall 2013 applications are now being accepted. Priority  deadline for the Fall 2013 semester is August 15, 2013.
