News from Mrs. Sims

This is the time of year that we are reminded to be thankful and our thoughts turn to the many blessings in our lives. Advent is also a time full of joy and anticipation as we prepare to encounter Jesus at Christmas. There is no better place to be during December than in a school surrounded by children as they wait, hope, and wish. Each day, I am thankful for the fact that I get to spend my days with your children. Here is the afternoon prayer for Advent that we are using in school. Please feel free to use it with your families.

Advent Prayer

O Lord Jesus,
During this time of Advent
Come to us in your grace.
Come to prepare our hearts, minds and bodies
To welcome you on Christmas Day.
Come to comfort us in sadness,
To cheer us in loneliness,
To refresh us in weariness,
To lead us in doubt
And to be with us in our hopes and joys.
Amen

Parents and families,
The 2016 Kentucky General Assembly is almost upon us. One important issue that will be brought up in Frankfort is Scholarship Tax Credit Programs. Parental choice is essential for quality education and scholarship tax credits will enable more parents to make that choice, no matter their economic standing.
Over the next few months, you will hear about this issue from EdChoice KY. The coalition is educating the Commonwealth on Scholarship Tax Credit programs which allow individuals, businesses and banks to contribute money to a 501(c)(3) scholarship granting organization and in return, donors will receive a tax credit to offset their state tax liability. The scholarships ensure that all students have the opportunity to obtain the education they deserve at a school that best suits their educational needs.
