Helping Hands is a meal packaging program created by Catholic Relief Service. Volunteers package meals to be sent to Burkina Faso, Africa. SMM's goal is to package 35,000 meals on March 25th. To do this, SMM needs to raise funds to pay for the meals. Each meal is only .50 cents; a $5 donation will buy 10 Meals!

Wednesday, March 1 is Ash Wednesday and has been designated as a SMM Family Night. All school, parish, and athletic activities that begin at 6:00 pm or after will be suspended for this night so that families may focus on time together. Masses at SMM will be at 8:15 am, Noon, and 7:00 pm.

Jump Rope for Heart
A message from Mrs. Iceman &
This is our last week for Jump Rope for Heart. The students will be jumping next Thursday morning, March 2. We have had several students and many families
who have been affected by heart issues.
Please go online and donate if you haven't already. Our goal is $18,000 and we are only at $8,500. Please click here to register and donate online.
Online registration is also the "permission slip" but since many have not registered or sent in a permission note, we are going to change the policy. If we have not heard from you, we will assume that your child has permission to participate.

The Archdiocese of Louisville, just like St. Margaret Mary School, is focused on excellence and continuous improvement. This process includes regular surveys sent out through AdvancEd. Our parents, students, and staff members will receive survey links next week which will provide key information in improving the Archdiocese and individual schools. Please be assured that your responses are anonymous and that your responses are appreciated. The survey window will be open from February 27th through March 10th. Please keep an eye out for your survey.

Cake Booth donations are requested for the Friday that your child's grade is scheduled to volunteer. A free dress pass will be issued for each item donated, not to exceed the current number of your children at SMM. Please bring the baked goods to the gym during afternoon carpool, during the set-up, or during the fish fry.

Lenten Rice Bowls
This week rice bowls will be handed out to each student at SMM.
The SMM Student Council has teamed up with Holy Trinity's Student Council for this year's rice bowl challenge.
Instead of a competition against each other, we are competing against hunger.
SMM & Holy Trinity goal is $10,000!
Anything and everything helps. Your spare change could change someone's life. No contribution is too small. We encourage you and your children to participate.

Box Tops Collections
We have two winning classes
who collected 313 Box Tops! In a close second place was
with 227 Box Tops. Each class will receive a treat for the entire class!
We will have one more a collection for this year! We will have two individual student winners that will each get a $25 gift certificate.
Everyone who brings in 50 Box Tops or more will be entered into a drawing for one of the two gift certificates.
Please bring all your Box Tops in by March 15th. Make sure they have your name and class number on them, or we will not know who they belong to!

Hearing & Scoliosis Screening Volunteers Needed
Wednesday, March 22
We are looking for parent volunteers to assist with our hearing and scoliosis screenings on Wednesday, March 22nd from 8:00-11:30 am. Grades 1-3 will be screened for hearing and grades 6-8 will be screened for scoliosis. Please contact Amy Hammer

Benefiting the Tommy Walsh
SMM Parishoner and husband of SMM teacher Dee Dee Walsh, Tommy Walsh, Jr. was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's) in 2013. It has been traced back to a fall he took while officiating in a college football bowl game in Feb. 2011.

Protecting God's Children
Honor Thy Children Training & Background Checks
Volunteers who have contact with children or youth (18 and under) for ANY length of time are required to participate in one of the 2-hour Safe Environment Training Workshops and undergo a background check.
This includes field trip chaperones, room parents, Field Day volunteers, Pioneer Day volunteers, etc. There is no cost.
