9-10:30 p.m. SPARC Membership Drive Event Following the official end of the Arts Crawl, SPARC will host a special reception for its members, with food, drinks and live music by Ham Jam. This young, L.A.-based, funk- and jazz-influenced band features guitarist Mac Hill and pianist Hank Mehren, accompanied by bassist Collin Kennedy and Julian Sanudo-Kretzmann on drums. The band, whose unique original melodies are reinforced by driving rhythms and smooth transitions, is in the process of releasing its first recording. Designed to encourage new membership, this event is open only to paid SPARC members, including new members who join that evening. Attendance is limited, so we encourage those who would like to attend to become members soon. For SPARC membership information please visit our website: www.sopasartscouncil.com/Blog |
Also, 6-9 p.m.: Carnival Cut-Outs
Located randomly among participating Arts Crawl galleries and businesses, Carnival Cut-Outs are one-of-a-kind figurative paintings on cardboard with a hole in the middle to place your face-and take a snapshot. This collaborative project, sponsored by SPACE (South Pasadena Arts Center) and SPARC and featuring the work of local artists, is the brainchild of resident creative director Marie Miller. Try to find them all!
