SPARC Mission St Scroll Project

SPARC & Photographic Artist
Jeff Burke Present
"Mission Street Scroll" Project

This 38-foot digitally assembled photograph presents just over a mile of iconic streetscape, from Trader Joe's Market at Mission Street's west end to Garfield Park at the east. Both the north and south sides of the street are shown. This print was created in honor of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the city of South Pasadena.

SPARC and Burke are inviting community members coming for the Arts Crawl on July 13 to stop by and add personal stories, anecdotes and memories of Mission Street, past or present, that will be added to the image.
The signing will take place in the courtyard of City Hall at 1414 Mission Street, and everyone is welcome to pen his or her thoughts about specific locations on Mission Street directly onto the Scroll.

After the signing is completed, the Scroll will be re-photographed and eventually deposited into a time capsule commissioned by the South Pasadena Preservation Foundation, to be opened at the 200th anniversary of the city in 2088. A copy of the print is available for viewing online at  TheMissionStreetScroll.com.
