St. Petersburg College Foundation Board of Directors, family and friends gathered at the new SPC Bay Pines STEM Center on November 16 to honor the Silverberg Family for their long-time support. Jane Silverberg designated $150,000 earlier this year to name the Community Center at the college's newest facility.

Jane Silverberg and her late husband Donald have been ardent supporters of St. Petersburg College and created the Silverberg Endowment for Academic Excellence Award in 1982 to help support, enrich and develop programs that benefit SPC, its students, and the broader community. Over the years, the Silverberg family has taken great pride in providing funding for a broad range of projects that enhance the learning experience for students of St. Petersburg College.

Two SPC Alumni Reunite!
SPC Alumni Helen Leslie (L) and
Forrest Athey
SPC Alumni Helen Leslie and Forrest Athey reunited this month at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. It was more than 15 years ago that the two first met. Ms. Leslie was attending the U.S. Tennis Open in New York with another SPJC Alum, Ed Turville. After visiting the concession stand Ms. Leslie was looking for a spot to perch her hotdog and soda. She met Mr. Athey who was in search of the same. They started talking and learned they both attended SPJC back in the 1940's. "Out of 22,000 in attendance, what was the chance of that meeting" said Ms. Leslie. Both life-long Titans still recognize SPC for laying the foundation for their future successes.
