"Our task during Advent is to practice the spiritual disciplines that will prepare us to experience the presence of this God who, in deep compassion, comes down to give light to people who live in darkness, to reveal the dawn in the face of death, and to guide us along the pathway of peace."
- Rev. James Harnish,
When God Comes Down: An Advent Study , page 11
Nate Note
Well, friends, I'd hoped to see you on Sunday and I was even on campus for a few minutes. That is, until Pastor Judy sent me home! Turns out when you don't have a lot of human interaction with people other than your family for a few days, you don't really hear or see how sick you are. I'm back at work, however, and playing catch up with you, this ministry, and our wonderful church!

I can't wait for this Sunday. We're going to the Holidazzle! This amazing event moved to Loring Park last winter and it appears to have legs, so we're giving it a shot. Please note the special extended 5:30pm-7:00pm time. We'll eat there, too, and there is no Journey rehearsal.

Lots of other items on the way, too, but most pressing is the Star Wars Lock-In. You are going to want to register asap so you can secure your ticket for opening weekend with your church friends! See you there.

In Christ,
Rev. Nate Melcher
Associate Pastor

Parents and Siblings are welcome!
Let's start a new tradition!
NOTE: Bring pocket money to eat at the Holidazzle.
There is NO Sunday Night Meal and NO Journey this Sunday.
We WILL start walking promptly at 5:35pm so if you're a little late just plan to meet us there. Tap/click the link to see a list of food vendors (~$10-$15 is our guess).

Our annual tradition returns as we head to Lutsen for a weekend of skiing, games, good food, and one heckuva road trip. This year, we'll be up for only two nights instead of three, and so the price is down, too (TBD). Never gone skiing before? No equipment? No problem! Just sign up for a beginner's lesson and/or rent your equipment on-site. Come and be a part of this grand tradition. We could use at least 1-2 more parent drivers and/or chaperones.
Sunday Evenings, 7:00pm-8:00pm, in the Church of Youth Room

Parents! Invite a friend and be a part of this brand-new drop-in group! We watch a documentary episode, short film, or a film in parts and explore its themes and ideas for our faith, our lives, and our God in a casual group discussion. Gatherings are facilitated by Pastor Nate Melcher. Yes, we will have popcorn! Open to all adults, so invite a friend! #livetoinvite
A co-production of Frontline and American Experience for PBS, God in America examines the history of religions in what is now the United States from around 1600 to 2010. We'll see priests and Pueblos, early Methodism, the Civil War, religion and schools, the trial of evolution, the simultaneous rise of Billy Graham and Martin Luther King, and today's religious pluralistic society.
