Presidents' Message
Dear Raskob Community,

Thursday's RPA newsletter comes early this week in anticipation of this week's BOOK FAIR! Tiffin Groff, VP of Academic Affairs who is organizing it would like to provide the following update:
Volunteering 2017-2018
Volunteering your time is an important part of what makes Raskob great. Contributing your valuable time enhances our student's experience. From driving for field trips to helping on larger events; everything matters. You'll find out about opportunities to volunteer in three ways:
- Monday's notes from Marlen
- Thursday's RPA newsletter

- From a room parent or directly from staff

There are several larger events throughout the year where you can help:

- Staff appreciation breakfast: 3 per year

- Annual book fair: this week!

- Refreshments at the Science Fair, Open House, and
Awards Night

- Teacher Appreciation week (May 7-11th)

All of the above events help and appreciate our teachers and staff and make all of our events more special.
THE BOOK FAIR IS THIS WEEK, open Thursday and Friday 8 - 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. in the California Room, across from Raskob's office.
The book fair contributes $750 in book value to help fill Raskob's classrooms and library.Once again, we're using Laurel Books, a local book seller in Oakland. This year, books will be on site for sale!
If you can't make it, order online at http://www.laurelbookstore.com/raskob-book-fair now through Monday Dec. 4th.
You can purchase books for yourself, as gifts, and also make donations to classrooms and for the library. Teachers have made book requests for purchase.
Thanks for your support and look forward to seeing you there!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Tiffin Groff at [email protected].
  Cheers,
Mark Headley

Please consider donating new, unwrapped, non-violent toys to "Toys for Tots."
All toys dropped off in the front lobby will be delivered that weekend.
Thank you in advance for your support.

Additionally, each year Raskob chooses a complementary, adult-focused charity with which to partner around the holidays. Charities in the past have included St. Mary's Center of Oakland, Alameda Meals on Wheels, and local shelters.
This year, please consider donating to Ruby's Place, a local non-profit dedicated to serving those who survive human trafficking and domestic violence.  Items should be new, unopened/unused, full-sized personal hygiene products like: shampoo/conditioner, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes and toothpaste, toilet paper, and diapers (size 3-6). Please visit their website for more information, and thank you in advance for your generosity.

Thank you to everyone who supported the See's candy.  Candy sales support the RPA and help the RPA achieve their annual fundraising goal.

Candy will be sent home with students on Wednesday, December 13th.
