Your Input Is Needed -- Over the last few years, issues have arisen over how the City allows businesses to come into the City.  Currently, there are no outright Permitted Uses in any of the commercial or industrial zones.  Potential businesses are required to do either a site plan or obtain a conditional use permit, unless replacing a conforming use.

Site Plans add an extra 4 to 6 weeks and extra costs to opening a business.  City Council directed City Staff to find a way to streamline the process.  Over the past year, Staff along with the Planning Commission have been working to set out permitted uses for specific zones of the City.

Dave Hanham, Director of Planning & Building, will explain the proposed changes to the ordinance and how they would affect businesses and property owners.  You input is needed before the final changes go to the Planning Commission and City Council for approval.

Dave will also talk about the plan for creating Business Attraction & Expansion Zone districts to allow business, industrial or educational parks and thus making the General Plan and Zoning Ordinance consistent.
