Welcome to 3PI Sites and SPI SMEs!
SPI is pleased to welcome both new subject matter experts and also new sites to our community.
In 2016, the Bureau of Justice Assistance funded two sites under the Police-Prosecutor Partnership Initiative (3PI): St. Louis, MO and King County, WA. SPI will be working closely with the St. Louis, MO site and the Smart Prosecution Initiative will work closely with King County, WA. Join us in welcoming both these sites to the Smart Suite!
SPI has also expanded our subject matter expert pool and we welcome Chief Richard Twiss, Stacy Ward, Bruce Johnson, and Chief Harold Medlock to our team! Chief Twiss will be partnered with the Sacramento, CA site, Stacy Ward will work with the Madison, WI site, Bruce Johnson will work with Lowell, MA, and Chief Medlock will work with the St. Louis 3PI site.

Register for "Benefits of Collaborative Policing" Webinar
On February 22nd, the Smart Policing Initiative will present a webinar on “The Benefits of Collaborative Policing.” This policing approach – which combines collaboration with problem-solving and evidence-based policing – builds community trust, support and cooperation while achieving more effective and long-lasting crime reduction benefits. Hildy Saizow, SPI Senior Subject Matter Expert, will review lessons learned from three Police-Community Collaboration workshops held last year, and present seven key principles agencies can put into practice to move toward collaborative policing. Also featured will be several police managers describing successful examples of collaborative policing, and Jason Cooper, with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation and BJA’s Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation program, discussing the community’s role as partners in creating safe communities. Participants will learn effective police strategies for engaging community members and forming comprehensive partnerships.
You can register for this webinar here.
