After Attending a JFO Conference One Year Ago . . .

"As adoptive parents already to three children from Korea, when we moved to the Albany area our lives intersected with Justice for Orphans. In May of 2016 we attended their conference hoping to learn more about foster care, however the testimony of a local family that had adopted from a crisis pregnancy center was what we felt God was leading us to do.
This week, Carissa was placed in our arms as we said yes to this little girl with complex medical needs. All praise to God Almighty..He has done amazing things for us!"

adoptive and foster parents.

Parent Participant Testimonial #1

"I was able to participate in the Empowered to Connect class last Fall. The class was great for so many reasons. The lessons each week were very specific with strategies I could use right away to help my kids and myself. My house became a different place. We found a peaceful way to work through the issues we had to deal with. I also came away with more of an understanding of how my kids needed me to help them through the tantrums and the behavior I was seeing. We became closer to each other as I viewed behavior in a much different way. The other unexpected benefit was being with other foster parents. Hearing their stories and their frustrations didn't make me feel so alone. They were experiencing a lot of the same things I was and we were trying to become better together. Although 9 weeks sounds like a big commitment it was well worth my time both in class and the time doing our homework."
Foster Parent - Carrie duBois

Parent Participant Testimonial #2

"Take the Empowered to Connect classes! If you are parenting foster or adopted children, this program is for you! It is not the average advice we have all heard. The class addresses the challenges that we face coaching these beautiful children and how to change to be more effective. The class also dives into our own parenting techniques and how they may be something we need to change. Each class goes by fast and will leave you wanting to learn more and stay longer! It is time very well spent! "

A Message From Our Treasurer, Sue Roseberger . . .
Hope, Nathan and Rose Roseberger

My life since accepting Jesus' call has been filled with miracles. One of the greatest was the day my husband and I got a call from Albany County Child & Family Services informing us they had a pre-adoptive 6 month old girl named Hope. Did we want her? Yes! A thousand times yes. After being married 8 years and praying fervently for a family, God chose this way to bless us. Then two years later, we added Hope's 3 month old brother to our home, then came sister Rose, straight from the hospital. God answered the deep desire of my heart, not just to be a Mom, but to finally love and nurture a baby from the very start of their earthly habitation.

The wonderful thing about all this was that, we do not walk this journey alone. The church, and not just our home church, heard the call to come around and love on us. They sent meals, provided furniture, clothing, babysitting, advise, instruction and prayer. We could not have done this alone. We didn't ask; they just instinctively did it.

I met Sandra Flach, early in this journey and saw her heart for not just her adoptive family, but all orphans here in the US and globally. I have supported JFO since it's inception, so last April 2016, when she asked if I knew anyone
with bookkeeping experience with non-profits, I said," I do, and it's me!" I have been the bookkeeper for my home church for nearly seven years and have been blessed to join the Board of Justice For Orphans as the treasurer.
My husband and I took the "Empowered to Connect" training course this past winter and have learned wonderful ways to understand and enrich the lives of our children. Foster care and adoption is certainly hard work; that is why the Body of Christ MUST get involved. It doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes a church.
