Dear  ,
Letter from the Editor

My life is an awesome, amazing adventure.  Sometimes it's a good adventure and sometimes it's not so good.  But, I always love the adventures.  I like to wrap my arms around the world and squeeze out all it has to offer.

Running can also be an adventure.  Sometimes running offers a great adventure and sometimes it offers something not so great.  Whether you run for your health or compete in races, running is never the same thing twice.  Yes, you may run the same routes and do the same miles over and over, but each day offers new and exciting adventures.  You just need to look.

Some of us run on the beach once a week.  Every Friday it's the same run, same time, same sand.  What isn't the same is that sometimes there's a gorgeous, outstanding sunrise.  Sometimes there's dolphins.  Sometimes there's loggerhead turtles that came to shore to lay their eggs or manatee or a big blue heron swallowing a sting ray.

Other times, the beach run might be hot and very humid, and there would be no breeze.  It might be high tide with barely any nice beach with which to run.  An unexpected lightning storm might chase you off the beach making you run for your life.

Whichever adventure your running offers you, embrace it.  Wrap your arms around your running experience and squeeze out all it has to offer.  And always....

Enjoy your journey,

Boy does time fly by!  As amazing as it seems, we're approaching mid-year and most of us already have a bunch of races under our best for 2015.

About six months ago you may have set goals for your fitness or for this year's racing.  So how's that going for you six months down the line?  If you already accomplished your goal - congratulations.  If it's still a work in progress - don't give up.  Keep working at it.

Whatever goals you made (or didn't make), this is a good time to re-evaluate and set new goals for yourself.  Plan to run a new race or push yourself to do better in a race you've done before.  Set a PR.  Beat that guy or girl who always seem to finish in front of you.  Or maybe  it's finally time to ramp it up and do that marathon or triathlon you've been thinking about.

Most of us are goal driven.  Goals keep us going and, if you're like me, they keep you honest about your workouts.  "I can't stay in bed this morning...  Gotta get out and do today's workout...  I need to push harder on the hill repeats.... Speed drills will give me the edge I need on race day."

If you want to set some specific new goals for yourself, the SPRR Beach Series is coming up soon.  There are three 5K beach races in June, July, and August.  You can race one, two or all three events.  And, SPRR members get a discount on race registration.  Details are on the website or you can contact Doug Schiller or Meghan Brunelli

Whatever your goals are, use them to stay fit, to race better, and equally important, to always have fun.

And speaking of fun, it's time again for the annual SPRR day at the ballpark.  This year we're going to the Rays vs. White Sox game on Sunday afternoon June 14th.  There are just a few tickets remaining.  Just $15.00 each.  Contact Karen Mathews for tickets.

Train smart.  Race Fast.

Dr. Eric Schweitzer spoke to our club a few months ago and revealed a secret.  He is opening a new running P/T clinic inside the St. Pete Running Company store. St. Pete Running Company is having a Grand Opening Celebration for Premier Run & Fit.  St. Pete Running Company said, "We are excited to welcome Dr. Eric Schweitzer of Premier Run & Fit to our location!  The group run begins at 6:30pm.  Maggie on the Move, a Mediterranean food truck, will be parked in front of the store from 5:30-8:30pm.  There will be give-aways & prizes and a whole lot of fun!  This is a great opportunity for a meet & greet with the PT who has been voted best Physical Therapist in Tampa Bay.  Feel free to invite your friends."
