Dear  ,
Letter from the Editor

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannakah, Happy Kwanza, and the Happiest New Year ever.  No matter how you celebrate the Holiday season, it is always magical.
There are so many magical moments in our lives.  We have Disney World, one of the most magical places ever. You could be 110 years old, but when you visit Disney you seem to be magically transformed into a child of 10.
This time of the year, everyone seems to be more patient and friendly.  Everyone seems to care more about helping those in need.  Everyone seems to really be happy.  That's magical.
Running is shear magic.  When you're on a run, your stressful life washes away, gradually and softly like a light summer rain washes away the dust.  When you first start out the door, your every footstep is a heavy thump, thump, thump.  You keep running, take a deep breath, and then it becomes a bit easier.  Your footsteps are now lighter and you feel like you're floating above the ground.  No one can explain that euphoric feeling or why it happens.  It's magical.
No one can explain how or why running transforms us.  We accomplish goals we never thought possible.  We go from a lazy lump of flesh to a strong, fit person able to run through challenges in a single bound.  Well, not really.  But we are able to run with determination.  We persevere.  We finish.  Sometimes we finish a terrible race to discover we ran a PR.  That's magical.
Enjoy your running through the holidays.  Enjoy the magic of the season.  More importantly, enjoy the magic of your run.
Enjoy your journey,
The Holiday Season
As I'm writing this month's message, Thanksgiving is here, and Christmas, Hanukkah and 2016 are right around the corner. And this brings several thoughts to mind.
First. Wow, how fast 2015 has flown by. It seems like yesterday when we were planning for the 2015 January races in St. Pete Beach and Clearwater. Time seems to move faster each year as I get older. I know it happens to everyone, but it's a reminder to me not to put off those things I want to do, but haven't gotten around to doing them yet.
Second, I count my blessings for the family and friends in my life, and for good health. Living here in St. Pete allows me to enjoy the outdoors and to stay fit year-round.
And third, for me personally, the holiday season is a time when I can happily and without guilt, back off on my Tri Training. Every year at this time I allow myself a few weeks where I take a mental and physical rest. I don't stop training, but I ease off on the volume and intensity of my workouts, and I don't worry if I skip a workout occasionally.
I realize many of you still have big races coming up in late November and December. Good luck to all of the end-of-year competitors. Others may be in the holiday recovery frame of mind. Either way, I hope you all enjoy the holidays.
And don't forget about the SPRR annual Holiday Party on December 10th at the Sunshine Center 330 5th Street N. in downtown St. Petersburg. The party starts at 6 pm . Join us for an evening of fun, food, and friends.
Whether you celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, have a very happy holiday and a healthy and prosperous New Year.

Frank Adornato
