Boating and angling guides for Santa Rosa and Escambia county are now available. The guide includes a map of the Pensacola Bay system depicting main channels, seagrasses, offshore artificial reefs, submerged aquatic vegetation and aquatic preserves. Information about public boat ramps, fishing piers, boating safety, ethical angling and waterway markers are provided, as well as information about the importance of conserving local habitats and species such as manatees, sea turtles, shorebirds.
"The guide is printed on water-proof paper and has great information for both new and seasoned anglers," said Calvin Lirette, owner of Avalon Bait and Tackle.
Guides will be distributed throughout Santa Rosa and Escambia counties. Copies may be obtained by contacting Santa Rosa County Grants Department at (850) 981-2018, UF/IFAS Florida Sea Grant Extension Office at (850) 623-3868 or the Escambia County Marine Resources Division at (850) 554-5869.
The guide was produced by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), Santa Rosa County, UF/IFAS Santa Rosa County Sea Grant Extension and Escambia County Marine Resources Division. Printing was made possible through a grant from the Florida Boating Improvement Program.
