Holiday Closures
All libraries will be closed on Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day.
 
Military Appreciation Month
May is National Military Appreciation Month. Join the Santa Rosa County Library System as we recognize and show appreciation for the contributions of the courageous men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Visit your local library and fill out a star to thank our local service members for their service. The stars will be displayed in each library throughout the month.
 
Gulf Breeze Library Book Store Closure
The Gulf Breeze Library Book Store will be closed from May 11 - 30. No donations will be accepted during this time frame. 
 
Preschool Storytime
Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages three through five and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. Programs start promptly at the assigned times; latecomers are not admitted.

First timer? Visit the library to meet the storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore the children's area, and enjoy a tour of the library.
 
Storytime will be presented during the following times through May 4:
  • 11 - 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
  • 11 - 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
  • 11 - 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Milton Library
  • 11 - 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Gulf Breeze Library
  • 11 - 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

Toddler Time - Navarre and Pace Libraries
Toddler Time is a program for children ages 18 to 36 months who attend with a caregiver. One child and one adult register together for songs, stories, rhymes, and other fun activities. This 20-minute program lasts 6 weeks.  
 
Toddler Time requires registration at the Navarre Library or Pace Library. Space is limited. It is not a drop-in program. Details are available at the participating libraries. You may call the Youth Services Coordinator Angela Evans at 981-4066 if you have any questions.
 
Toddler Time will be presented during the following times through May 2:
  • 11 - 11:20 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Pace Library
  • 11 - 11:20 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Navarre Library 
Refreshing Reads Book Club - Jay Library - 5259 Booker Ln.
May 1, 3 p.m.
Enjoy an uplifting book club where one can talk about books in a spirit of fun and sharing. Refreshing Reads meets the first Tuesday of every month at the Jay Library. See a staff person to sign up.  This month's selection is "Home Front" by Kristen Hannah.
 
The Illustriates Graphic Novel Book Club - Navarre Library - 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.
May 2, 4 p.m.
Sixth through 12th graders can join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts at the Navarre Library on the first Wednesday of each month  to discuss the book of the month. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic  novel. This month's selections are "Mighty Jack" and "Mighty Jack and the Goblin King" by Ben Hatke. Speak with a staff member to sign up.
 
Book Chat - Pace Library - 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd.
May 2, 4 p.m.  
One of the next best things to reading a good book is chatting about it. Join the conversation at the Pace Library on the first Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m.  This month's selection is "Manhattan Beach" by Jennifer Egan. Registration is required.
 
FOML Spring Book Sale - Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St.
May 4, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and May 5, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
The Friends of the Milton Library will hold their Spring Book Sale on Friday, May 4, between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on Saturday, May 5, between 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. A variety of books will be available. Support your local Friends group.
 
Coffee Talk Book Club - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.
May 8, 12 p.m.
The non-fiction book club meets on the second Tuesday of every other month for a brown bag lunch and book discussion. This month the book club is discussing "From Here to Eternity" by Caitlin Doughty. Registration is required.
 
The Inklings - Milton Library - 5541 Alabama St.
May 8, 5 p.m.
Sixth through 10th graders are invited to share their ideas about the book of the month. The Inklings Book Club meets the second Tuesday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Milton Library. This month's selection is "The Maze Runner" by James Dashner. Speak with a staff member to register.

Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Board of Director's Meeting - 1060 Shoreline Dr.

Friends of the Pace Library Board Meeting -  4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. 
May 8, 5:30 p.m.
Board meetings are held at the Pace Library at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every other month beginning with January. The annual meeting is held in March. Visit the FOPL website at www.friendsofpacelibrary.org for details.

AniManga Club - Gulf Breeze Library -  1060 Shoreline Dr.
May 15, 4 p.m.
Visit the Gulf Breeze Library on the third Tuesday of each month to learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The AniManga Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. The club is open to youth ages 11 - 17.

Join other local authors at the Navarre Library on the third Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. Topics of discussion will include everything from the writing process to how a new author can get published.

The county Master Gardeners will present a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your gardening life. This month's topic, "Monarchs, Milkweed and More," will be presented by Anne McIlhenny.

May 21, 3 p.m.
Family movies will be shown the third Monday of every month at 3 p.m. We will take a break in June. This month, join us for a movie based on the book "The BFG" by bestselling author Roald Dahl (rated PG). Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library.
 
Robotics for Kids - Gulf Breeze Library - 1060 Shoreline Dr.

May 29, 6 p.m.
Ninth through 12th graders who are 14-18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the Gulf Breeze Library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month. This month's book is "Six of Crows" by Leigh Bardugo.
