The Santa Rosa County fiscal year 2018 adopted budget is now available
online. The total budget is $145,704,842. This is up $18,427,967 from the previous fiscal year with the majority of the increase coming from the local option sales tax, landfill construction, sheriff's office increases, MSBUs and additional capital investments in the road and bridge department
Santa Rosa County ad valorem revenue increased by 4.75 percent, with nearly half of that increase a result of new construction. That, combined with the county's efforts in reducing its reliance on property taxes, produced a budget that is balanced and sustainable while maintaining the current millage rate of 6.0953.
With a goal of educating and informing Santa Rosa County residents about how tax dollars are managed and spent, staff also created a Budget-In-Brief. This tool, along with last year's budget enhancements, is another step to meeting citizens' demands for information that is educational, straightforward and transparent.
