Principal's Post

I am writing this post the day after we had our unofficial kickoff of the school year with the Annual Pig Roast. It was a great event with many students, parents, and friends of Aquinas getting together to celebrate the start of the school year and support STA Athletics. Kudos to Gabe Wanchick who prepared some delicious pork, chicken, and sausage.

One thing to be excited about is the installation of our new president, Dan Gravo. Dan brings a wealth of experience in higher ed administration and advancement. He has much to offer and I look forward to continuing to work for him and serve Aquinas as principal of the school.

Dan Gravo has been named president of both St. Thomas Aquinas and Central Catholic. As such, he is charged with building on the successes of both schools and ensuring they both them to both continue to grow and thrive into the future.

St. Thomas Aquinas will also be welcoming back our teachers this week. They will be reporting to school for some inservice training and to prepare their classrooms for the students who follow next week. Please pray for them in a special way this week.

Here are some important upcoming dates:
Freshmen Orientation and Class Dinner: Tuesday, August 15
Mass for the Assumption of Mary Tuesday, August 15
Middle School Dinner: Thursday, August 17
First Day of School: Tuesday, August 22

The Home and School Association will be selling school uniforms during the Freshmen Orientation and Middle School Dinner.

H ave a great Aquinas week!

St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us.

New President and Board of Central Catholic & St. Thomas Aquinas!

August 10, 2017 - Bishop Murry announced the selection of Daniel A. Gravo as president and a new governing board of both Central Catholic and St. Thomas Aquinas High School at a press conference today at Walsh University.

John Sirpilla, the new board chair, noted that the communities at both schools “are grateful for the decades of leadership provided by Father Kaylor and Father Dyer. This new team is honored to continue the legacy that they, their boards, and their teams have given to the Stark County Catholic education community.”
Welcome Dan Gravo!

Gravo  has more than 20 years of experience working for faith-based educational institutions. For 12 years he worked for Walsh University as the director of compliance and eligibility. He was also a coach and the assistant athletic director. While working at Walsh he was named the 2005-2006 National Football Foundation Northeastern Ohio Chapter College Assistant Coach of the Year. In 2007, he moved to the Walsh Advancement Office, as the director of alumni relations where he led programming and engagement for more than 12,000 alumni across the globe.

Ways to Support STA
St Thomas Aquinas High School is partnering with Schoola ( www.schoola.com ).

What’s Schoola? It’s a great way to raise funds for our school. Schoola collects pre-loved women's and children’s clothes, preps and sells them online, and gives 40% of the proceeds (minus the cost of inbound shipping) back to St Thomas Aquinas High School to help fund programs for our kids. That’s $2 out of every $5 earned back to our school! Simply click on the image to view our very own Schoola landing page where you can request a bag and view our progress and funds earned

The AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to St. Thomas Aquinas High School & Middle School to help fund programs for our students. Every little bit counts, donations quickly add up.

It's easy! Type smile.amazon.com and log into your Amazon.com account. Select St. Thomas Aquinas High School (yes the Middle School benefits too!), Louisville, OH. That's it. Now whenever you make a purchase STA benefits.

Thank you for your support!

Don't forget to forward this to your family and friends!  And encourage them to sign up to receive their own copy of this email blast.
