SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2017
STREAMLINES for Volunteers

Another year, another USMS Annual Meeting in the books! We held elections, updated rules, raised money for SSLF, discussed exciting new projects, and learned from each other.

Special congratulations to all our elected officers and 2017 award recipients, and a big thank-you for  your  service to USMS.

Thank you for all you did for our members in 2017; we're looking forward to working with you in 2018.

House of Delegates minutes have been finalized and approved, including all the committee meeting minutes.

Important: Please complete the Committee Request survey by Friday, Oct. 6, if you would like to serve on a committee in 2018.

The 2017 Convention Evaluation is also available. Please take this survey--your feedback helps us improve your Convention experience.

If you attended a workshop, please fill out the associated evaluation. Those surveys are available at the bottom of the Convention page under the post-convention header.

We look  forward  to seeing you at the  2018 USAS Convention  scheduled for Sept. 26-30, in Jacksonville, Fla.
Club Registration Opens October 1
Renew your club so members can find you!
Join Renew Button
All club contacts will receive an email in the first week or two of October with an online renewal link. It's important to have your club register before Nov. 1. On that date, individual members can begin registering or renewing with USMS for the 2018 membership year. If your club is not registered, it will not appear in the pull-down lists and your members will not be able to register with you.
First Annual Winter Fitness Challenge!
Create excitement and participation in your LMSC
Be part of the first annual U.S. Masters Swimming Winter Fitness Challenge from Feb. 15-28. The Fitness Challenge Series exemplifies the fun and inclusive nature of our organization.

The first event of the series is a 30-minute swim that can be done however you like: with fins, broken into 100s, a relay, you name it! The goal is to get swimmers together and push each other to finish 30 minutes of swimming.

We're encouraging clubs to find a date to host this event in their local pools and then invite teammates, co-workers, recreational swimmers, friends, or family to come out and see if they can finish the challenge.

All event proceeds go to the Swimming Saves Live Foundation. More information to follow in the coming months. If you have questions, please contact us at events@usmastersswimming.org or 941-556-8767.
Upcoming Peer-to-Peer Calls
Log on to teleconferences for best practices
Need to Know
Mark your calendars for the next three peer-to-peer teleconference calls for the following:

Registrars:  Oct. 3, 8:30 p.m. EDT/5:30 p.m. PDT

Annual meetings: Nov. 7, 8:30 p.m. EDT/5:30 p.m. PDT

Fitness: Dec. 5, 8:30 p.m. EDT/5:30 p.m. PDT

These calls provide an opportunity for you to pose questions, get answers, discuss challenges, and share successes as you fulfill your role. In turn, we can use the information shared to help build a repository of best practices for each of our volunteer positions.

Prior to the call, we encourage you to log on to the LMSC Administration Forum to post questions or topics of interest that you would like covered. Email notifications are sent 2 to 3 weeks prior to the respective volunteer and to the LMSC chair.

Notes from Peer-to-Peer calls are now more easily accessible in the Meeting Minutes section of usms.org . Look under the For Volunteers tab and select the Meeting Minutes page. Then, select Peer-to-Peer Teleconference Notes from the By Committee or Group drop-down menu. Happy reading!
